ex-Tropical Depression Lee

If this was, instead, a Lee Majors Hurricane could we expect it to cause $6 million in damages?

Is it me, or is Hurricane Lee making very slow progress?

Lee is moving slowly, I really can't tell what progress you're making

oh oh

From in2013dollars.com: "$6,000,000 in 1973 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $41,309,594.59 today, an increase of $35,309,594.59 over 50 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 3.93% per year between 1973 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 588.49%." But that's US dollars; it varies by country.

Any updates? Especially wondering about weekend in Boston. Any insights appreciated!

Maybe a rainy weekend in Boston.....

H = hurricane (74 - 110 mph)

M = major hurricane (> 110 mph)

Boston this weekend has a chance of showers that have nothing to do with Lee.

The only effects of Lee on the east coast are likely to be surf and rip currents.

Caveat -- there is still about a 20% chance that, as a tropical storm, Lee makes landfall somewhere in Maine, and there is a less than 10% (but not zero) chance for the northeast.

A sample of the latest models:

Did you see how much rainfall Massachusetts has been getting all week? Lee might make things worse next weekend.  9 inches of rain is crazy.

Lee could drop another one to two inches over the weekend on the eastern end of the state

Lee is one huge storm (diameter)

WOW!

When it is declared ex-tropical? After Sandy, I know the guidance changed a bit. I just don't know how...

It has to do with the characteristics of the storm; tropical cyclones are non-frontal whereas extra/post-tropical storms are more similar to nor’easters. Fwiw, this wasn’t changed after Sandy but rather has always been the case.

Hurricane Lee Friday Sept 15

Today Lee will pass New Jersey well out to sea. Outflow clouds are already visible to the east and will slowly cover most or all the sky as the day progresses.

I do not expect any precipitation and little to no wind effects from Lee in SOMA today (or ever)

Lee's track has shifted east and effects in New England should be milder that we thought yesterday, with some rain and breezy conditions possible in the Boston area. Parts of Maine are still under a tropical storm warning.

Surf will continue to be treacherous with waves an rip currents today.

Dang it.  Inflow, not outflow.

Carry on

you had it right the first time — it’s outflow

The line of clouds was visible in NYC on Friday. There was a line down the middle of the sky, one half was clear and the other half was clouds.
