The McRib is returning

I have not gone to MDs voluntarily since 1974.  Thus, who cares????

I don't much like their burgers and similar, but I do like many of the breakfast items (especially the biscuit sandwiches) and I still think they have the best fries of any fast-food chain.

I agree, but I'm still a sucker for the occasional Big Mac. The Egg McMuffin is one of the great fast food inventions. I just wished they toasted the muffin more.

You came into this thread just to dunk on the people here?

I read this thread and decided to go to McDonalds on Northfield Ave, which I go to every few months, and get a McRib.  Will never need to eat another, but I  now can say I had one.  It was a bit too sweet.  I think all the McD have them now, at least for some period of time.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I got one last year while out in PA. I succumbed to the silly marketing hype!

I'm guessing maybe in 8-10 years I'll have sufficiently forgotten the experience to try again. Until then it's Quarter Pounders for me!

I bought one just a few minutes ago. Am trying to get up the nerve to eat it.

meh. It wasn't too bad, maybe better than I remember, but there's no need to get another one. Never was a fan of bbq sauce anyway.

With regard to McD's overall -- I really like a Big Mac. I don't go there often. But a couple times a year, there's not much better than a Big Mac, fries and a Coke.

But for me, the McRib is a hard pass.

It's a pretty brilliant marketing strategy if you ask me. Its a solidly mediocre sandwich but they have somehow created this nigh-mythical atmosphere around it.

To be honest, I was more interested in trying their new apple fritter. (verdict - not bad)

I figured since I was there...

I don’t think I’ve ever had a McRib, but my husband goes ga-ga for them.

I thought the McGriddle sounded hideous, but a few weeks ago they screwed up my order and by the time I realized that my ham, egg, and cheese on an English muffin was actually a sausage McGriddle I was already on 78 so I wasn’t about to turn around.  It was actually tasty, but I don’t think I would purposely order one, at least not on a regular basis.  A bit too much, and too sweet for a breakfast sandwich.

Do you ever have pancakes with syrup for breakfast? That's the McGriddle. I avoid them because they're really caloric, but they're kinda tasty.

I’m really weird with my pancakes.  I prefer to cut pieces off the pancake and then dip a corner in the syrup, I don’t like pouring syrup all over it.  I get the taste of syrup with every bite but actually use a lot less that way.  I also prefer dark maple syrup over pancake syrup, even if the pancake syrup is maple “flavored.”

I don't like pancakes - but I do like the McGriddle.  grin

I had my McRib yesterday, it's good to have once a year.  I'm glad it's still around every now and then.

You don't like pancakes? That's un-American!

I like French Toast more - maybe we can rename that to Freedom Toast.  grin

McRib = McGross [citation needed]

If the McDonald's needs a citation, I'm out.

“The Ford Taurus” of barbecue sandwiches is a great line. However, it’s the Big Mac I want on my semi-annual McDonald’s adventures.
