St James Gate

And to think that guy was stuck in the back making boneless wings for me all that time.

I like going there, but it's hard for me to find something lightish on the menu.  They used to have some great unique salad options, but those were gone the last time I went there.  I still go and find something to order, but nothing exciting like the Ruben.  They make a good burger and all the other heavy stuff I try not to eat anymore. Sometimes I order an appetizer as dinner or try to split something or take half home.

The menu on the website still lists salads with possible add-ons like salmon.

They still have the Tipperary Rueben on the menu, too.

Yes, but they are basically an ordinary house salad and Ceasar salad. They used to have a fig salad that was unique and delicious.  They also have the wedge salad which is a hunk of iceberg lettuce and a knife.  It's a traditional salad, but not from my traditions. Hard not to end up with the Tipperary Ruben when faced with these snoozer salads.  Last time I controlled myself and  I got the house salad and chicken.   It was good, but nothing special.

Yeah, the Gate is a comfort food place. I’m fine with that. There aren’t enough of these places left around here IMO.

I like the gate- burgers are good, so is the salmon with quinoa

Good beer selection.  Can’t beat $3 pint Tuesday after seeing a $6 movie

I like the Gate too.  Didn't realize this many people didn't.

Possibly it has to do with the incident discussed in this 2008 link:

I heard about that incident on MOL but the incident that drove me away was an entirely different one.

The Gate is hugely popular. Yes, an ugly incident occurred several years ago that involved one employee/family member. However, I'm just going out there for the Mead family as they have done a lot of very fine things for the community. Big sponsors of the upcoming Oyster Festvival as one example. I believe Mr. Mead was recenlty given an award for his community invovlvemnt,

Oh right.  I remember that incident.
