Rush - 2015 tour (NJ and NYC in June)

Well, the official parking link for the center says $37.50 ($30 fee plus $7.50 "service" charge). Here's the link: http://www.prucenter.com/default.asp?prucenter=98&urlkeyword

$20 is standard, but $37.50 is insane.

Looking at that link, it seems they change the parking rate for certain events. For instance, Seton Hall games and Disney on Ice are $20 plus fee but Rush and the Who are $30 plus fee. It makes no sense why someone should have to pay more to park for some events. The only way to lesson it a bit would be to just pay for parking at the event and then you don't get the surcharge fee which is a whole other ridiculous issue.

I'll be one of those "7 females at a Rush concert"!

@composerjohn, you can get a cheaper price a little further away from the arena or you can take the NJT train to Broad Street station and city subway shuttle that goes to penn station. It's just a short walk up market street to the arena. I do it all the time. Have fun!

It was $50 for the lot next to the stadium during the Stanley Cup games ($40 during playoff games).... It's awful.

No way! Me too! ;-)

Me too! I've been to a few shows and it never fails that guys line up to use the women's room. And they don't mind if you cut the line since it is the women's room. The band is awesome andso are the fans. Can't wait for the show oh oh

Last show I saw there we ate at a Sol-mar first. Free parking and free shuttle to and from concert. , just gave driver nice tip.

Unbelievable. Can't wait for the DVD. This review sums it up:

The YouTube comments are brutal, although I laughed out loud at "Neil Hurt." grin)

My favorite cover, from "Freaks and Geeks":

The Clockwork Angels tour DVD is up for pre-order at Amazon - looks great!

Also, the long-overdue remix of 2002's Vapor Trails is out next week ($9 at Amazon with an AutoRip mp3 download thrown in). I'm looking forward to this - the original was horribly mastered (they should have done it in Dubly) and the distortion wrecked the listening experience.

Nice profile on Neil:

Also, there's rumors of a summer Rush tour. Some dates were leaked by accident.

Nice! I was excited about the Rush tour and think that my older son (who'll be 8 and is a big ol' Rush fan) is ready for his first rock concert this year. It would be great if it happens as Rush was my first concert (Presto tour, 1990).

Rush recently re-released some concerts on Blu-Ray with new material. Rather than make people buy it all over again, they posted it online - great to get some pro-shot Test For Echo tour footage:

I'm not a big fan of Rush. They bore me. But....I respect the hell out of them. Individually they're great musicians, they continue to evolve as a band and after 40 years they not only enjoy playing but enjoy playing with each other and from what I understand enjoy hanging out together. They succeeded on so many levels where many bands fail and never got caught in the trapping of being rock and roll stars. and this is my favorite Rush video:

Got Mr. Blackcat the newest Neil Peart book for Christmasoh oh Glad I checked before I finished my orderoh oh

Maybe no tour? Honestly, I don't blame him.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/neil-peart-rush-tour-its-true-dilemma-20150106#ixzz3OFbdEJsO

Rush's Neil Peart expressed ambivalence about future touring in a new interview. Currently, the trio is deciding whether or not it would tour this year, but the drummer recently told Prog magazine that he's conflicted about leaving his family – especially his 5-year-old daughter, Olivia – for an extended period of time, according to Classic Rock.

"It's a true dilemma – there's no right answer," he said. "People say to me, 'Are you still excited when you go on tour?' Should I be excited about leaving my family? No, and no one should. It's as simple as that. If you put aside the fantasy of it, it is what it is and has to be done. And that's fine and I pour my entire energy and enthusiasm into it, but of course, I'm of two minds about the whole idea."

Regarding leaving Olivia to tour, Peart said that he could "stand missing her" but that he couldn't bear the idea of her missing him. "How can a small child process that?" he said. "And there's the guilt that comes with that – you feel guilty about it, of course. I'm causing pain."

Last year, Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson told Rolling Stone that the group was plotting a "41st anniversary" tour for this year. "There are already plans being made for spring of 2015," he said at the time. But later in the year, singer-bassist Geddy Lee said that the band was still undecided. In a Rolling Stone interview, he speculated, "If we're going to do some sort of anniversary thing, it'll probably be a 'trip through the years' kind of thing," but said that the band had not yet decided on a plan.

Despite the uncertainty, Rush celebrated their 40th anniversary with a box set of their concert films. Among the release's 10 DVDs, R40 also contained a bonus disc of more than two hours of previously unreleased material dating back to the band's early years.

It's happening!!!

Tickets on sale 1/30:

Newark Prudential Center: 6/27
NYC MSG: 6/29

Presale for newsletter subscribers tomorrow at 10 AM. However, I've not gotten any newsletter updates yet...

presale on ticketmaster password is RUSH2015 or simply go to http://rush.shop.ticketstoday.com/

Anyone have any intel as to whether the setlist will be different from the most recent tour?

For this first round in Newark...

Ticket Price:
$195.25 Reserved Price One
$100.75 Reserved Price Two
Includes Facility Fee

($0.25 more at MSG)

EDIT: I'm confused...I think that's the VIP package...?

No solid intel on the setlist, but they've been diving deep into the 80s with the last few tours (lots of Power Windows last time around). They did a fun "History of Rush" instrumental medley to kick off the 30th anniversary show (no way Geddy was tackling things like "Anthem"), so maybe something like that again? Maybe the entire 2112 suite?

My #1 pick for this show would be "Prime Mover" from Hold Your Fire - that song means the world to me and they only played it on that tour.

Fingers crossed - "Anything can happen":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O49F8pB8bH4

Yeah, I recalled a lot of '80s stuff played on the last tour. I found it funny that the dude next to me at the show remarked, "I'm surprised they are playing a lot of their new stuff" - I guess in reference to 80's Rush vs. 70s Rush... 30 year old songs ain't that "new"...

Great video with unfortunate haircuts...

For what it's worth, TicketMaster just updated with:

US $50.75 - US $195.25

US $50.75 Ticket + US $12.95 Fees =
US $63.70

US $195.25 Ticket + US $29.05 Fees =
US $224.30

Screw that - it's just the VIP or $200 "cheap seats." I'll wait for the next presale.

http://rush.shop.ticketstoday.com/ is offering $100 seats. However, I splurged for a seat in floor A. Always fun to see Geddy close up...

Rumor roundup:

Interesting - rotating older material and Neil playing a smaller kit (!!) that won't be spinning around (!!!!!).

The story behind the kit is interesting:
