Next Rain Storm Friday Night 1/12

Forecast is on track for more rain tonight.

Rain will likely overspread the area after 7 pm, with the possibility of some heavier showers overnight. Rain ends early morning, total rainfall likely 1 - 1.5 inches.

Wind of 15 - 20mph with gusts in the high 30s overnight.

While not a severe as the some of the last storms, previous heavy rains have led to high soil saturation levels so the forecast rain tonight is more likely than normal to trigger field and small stream flooding, and basements continue to be at risk. The NWS has continued the Flood Watch for this reason.

The rest of the weekend starts out warm and breezy, with winds continuing steady around 20mph with gusts in the low 30s. Temps should fall closer to seasonal norms Sunday, continuing to be breezy.

Still looking at Tuesday night for our next possible precipitation event. Still not clear whether we are looking at snow, rain, or a wintery mix, or even if this one hits us. At this time there is a significant spread in the models on track, and the Tuesday system may pass offshore and miss us or only glance by.

I like the weather maps showing isobars. They give info on wind direction and speed, temp changes, and chances of rain.   The expected rain or snow maps really give us the needed info we can use.   Thank you, Max and Wxnut

This isn’t super convenient for me. Is there anyway we can reschedule it for the middle of the week?

I dug my snowblower out of the garage and let it run for a bit. 1 of 2 things will happen as a result, either no snow will accumulate or enough will accumulate to blow but my blower won’t restart  

Weather reports are so much better than when I was young.  I recall watching Tex Antoine on channel 11 and he would put up smiley faces or frowns on his weather map.  I liked him because he was funny, but he got fired for telling a sick and too-racey sex joke.   Kind of what happened to Soupy Sales.  (showing my age here.)
