New Post Office mini-rant

Kings never had any intention of moving.  With almost 15 years remaining on a lease held by one of their own Holding Companies.......that idea never approached the truth.

Wait, are you missing nohero's joke? It's pretty funny.

Mr. C.................i just can not wait to start shopping at the new kings which has been built across the street from

the old kings.   i can also buy rolls of stamps there and get rolls of quarters for the washing machines in my building.

What a wonderful convenience not having to walk that extra 75 feet or so.  It was worth the wait.

Psst, author: A stationery store sells paper and stamps. A stationary store stays put.

An airy station store is what hasn't been built yet at the old post office site.

Yes Dave and I am moving the goal posts a little but a Post Office and only a Post Office can do certain things..........certify and register mail............I never knew the difference.  It can provide the means of tracking mail and packages.  It can sell ideal mailing tubes and envelopes at the site which you will use them.

Was briefly in the new Post Office the other day.............neat and clean as a pin.   I also noted there was not parking available that i could see with the naked eye.  i understand the mail is now sorted in Union and has to be delivered from there.  Later in the day our carriers must return to Union ,  which of course adds time to their work day.

Basically we took what was not broken and we fixed it.  And on a hopefully humorous   note so that I do not raise Mr. C's blood pressure again.......Able Baker is the only coffee shop close by.

Where as the old Post Office was surrounded by the Village Coffee.............the Maple Leaf and even Kings has all day

coffee in their Deli area..   Major loss

Author is actually MOL's Turing machine.   We will upgrade some of the code soon.

Touring works better.  And my title should be expanded to Primary Coffee Critic and guide to Maplewood Village............as well as distributor of tennis balls..

Does anyone remember the origin of the tennis ball joke? Author's been referencing it for about a year but seeing as he brings it up in so many completely-out-of-context situations I've no idea what the set up is to this punchline.

I think it's pretty clear that the Post Office moved but didn't submit a change of address form and the stamps are still being delivered to the old address.

They're getting mail? Lucky bastards. They must know someone in the Post Office or something.

Yes, but it's a little fuzzy.

ridski...............that looks suspiciously similar to the legendary round to it.

And now i have a Building inspector here from the State.   They want to know where I am keeping my tennis balls.

i have become a legend my own time.

While I do think Able Baker's coffee is superior to that of Village Coffee, and while I tend to park more quickly for one at the former than the latter, I like the guys at VC a lot and continue to patronize them, and will keep doing so.  So it's all good.

For those who are not retired........which is most people i guess.........and do not have the time to do a taste testing of the coffee served at our various restaurants etc........Here in is my totally subject taste rating of all those in the Village which I have experienced. .   Standard coffee only..............no espressos ,  cappuccinos  etc

1.  The best      Abel Baker

2    Maybe surprise number 2...........Maplewood Deli and Grill.   Always good they have changed blends and are even better.

3.   Village Coffee................also their ice coffee is very popular

4.   Bagel Chateau.............especially when it is 7 degrees outside.

5    Cactus Charley.............full bodied.   Not sure it is on the menu

6    Kings.............especially good when you buy a cup to go and  make the walk across the tracks to the park

7    Highland Place.......After enjoying one..of Steve Crane's sloppy joes anything they served would have been acceptable....

Missed mentioning Maple Leaf........ always a decent cup of coffee.  Have not been there in quite a while

Train Station........not enough sampling.....

Special status....Coda..........food is so good their coffee is just a relaxing few more minutes there.

Now we have that much more time to debate Post Office issues
