Music that lifts you up

if we're going classical, here's Pines of Rome, last movement.

Speaking of Stevie Ray Vaughan, I was at a music festival in Denton, Texas a number of years ago, something like 2010, and as I entered the field where the stage was, I said to myself, man, that sounds just like Stevie Ray and Double Trouble, but Stevie's been dead for years. Sure enough, it was Double Trouble playing without Stevie.

The headline act was local Denton favorites, Brave Combo.

It's Earth Day and I'm in a Moonglow mood.

one of my favorite composers.

Another one for Earth Day, from a group that you may have never guessed was the Turtles. Then again, that was the conceit of the entire marvelous album.

Can't stop playing this.

Thought it would be a good time to resurrect this thread. I intended to add to it but to my surprise I was the last poster and was just as surprised to see it was Balkan Beat Box! 3 years later I would still love to be in that crowd.

And uplifting classical

Can I post a Tiny Desk concert here?  Tash Sultana, guitar wizard. She lifts me up with her skill, creativity, originality and passion. And bare feet. Watch all 25 mins. Simply irresistible.

The Tiny Desk concerts are a priceless resource for music.

I love this piece and think it should appear on The Uncaged Bird thread. I did some research on it and hoped to find an answer to why it made me think of China. Something in the melody but of course it is about a lark in England. Very poignant.

In response I'll post Strange Meadowlark by Dave Brubeck. It brings back memories of my Dad who introduced me to Brubeck as a teen. I have some Brubeck on vinyl.

What a great thread.  I will jump in:

Garth Brooks:  When my daughter was an infant, I got the two am feeding job.   I would feed my daughter while sitting on a rocking chair and the country music station on low.  Garth was played a lot.

I also love Garth. He manages his content very closely. I'm surprised you could find a YouTube clip of his online.

He was the original Taylor Swift, as far as I'm concerned. Huge shows, huge loyal following, great live persona.  Such a great singer, too. He has that little yodel in his voice. Gets me every time.

I've watched this clip of Little Village (John Hiatt, Ry Cooder, Nick Lowe and Jim Keltner) over and over. Three great songs and such wonderful performers. Cooder sings one, Lowe sings one and Hiatt stuns with his singing on the final number. Wow.

Love Ry Cooder!

I'm in a Little Feat time warp. CDs in the kitchen and in the car, (I've inherited my Dad's old Kia and it has a CD player, lucky for me.)

I'm hunting online to find one of their CDs I may have missed. The cats and I are pretty hooked on Rock 'n Roll Doctor so ;;;;

I like those boys.  Not everyone pulls it off well but Lowe does a great show with just him and his guitar. He's got a deep, great voice and is quite funny.

I never had a Neil Diamond CD but I liked a few of his songs. When I was recently gifted The Best of Neil Diamond the Millenium Collection, it hit the spot! Singing and dancing in my kitchen, I've discovered a few songs that I didn't know and now love. Holly Holy and a song that is in a recent commercial, I Am I Said. are 2 favorites. I doubt there's a song that has any mention of New York City, that doesn't make me feel a little homesick.

Did your kitchen chair hear anything?

I have a similar soft spot for Three Dog Night and the Fifth Dimension.

The sound was muffled by the cat sitting there.

As for the three dogs in your kitchen, are you listening to the warning, Mama Told Me Not To Come? (love that song)

Fifth Dimension for me would be Aquarius.

Sweet gig, feline.

Anything by The Band! Also Love Chicago and BS&T!

For you, rcarter31, a song that isn’t typical of the Grape but is one that, if you’ve never heard it before, just might earn a place in your Chicago/BS&T-lovin’ heart.

Hard to pick just one but for starters

Freedom by Beyonce, who gave Kamala Harris permission to use it.

This one is nice.  I do not understand most of the Jamaican slang.

Here's one a friend just shared on FB. Very upbeat. Could be a nice Kamala ad.
