If it's highly technical I think we'll have to wait until wxnut weighs in on the matter.

btw - does anyone else kinda hate snow, but still looks forward to the snowfall?

In case you didn't get 3 phone calls already:

Delayed Opening - Tuesday December 17 2019

Due to the forecasted weather conditions and for the safety of our students and staff, the South Orange and Maplewood School District will observe a 2-hour delayed-opening on Tuesday, December 17, 2019. View school start times here: https://www.somsd.k12.nj.us/about/hours/

Will conandrob make it to Florida?

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10:00 this morning, Tuesday 12/17.

Rain and freezing rain this morning, changing over to all rain after 8:00 am. Rain could continue most of the day, with the high reaching the mid to upper 30s.

The southern edge of the rain/snow line is located just through our area at 6:00 this morning moving slowly north. This means that we are and have been for several hours in a zone of mixed precipitation. The precipitation has not been too heavy according to the radar, so the main danger is slick icy spots on the roads and sidewalks, with little danger of a significant ice accumulation here. Caution should be taken even later in the morning as icy spots may remain for awhile after the full changeover to rain, especially in sheltered spots and at higher elevations.

Has anyone tried walking down the hill towards the Maplewood train station this morning?  If so, how is the footing?  Icy or just wet?

Roads and sidewalk in my area, Clinton, are ice free. Vegetation is ice covered.

Tomorrow morning will be different. Whatever water doesn't dry today, will be ice overnight.
