Ruf DFA'd. That had to be done. I'm ok with the moves so far. Let them all play regularly and get some more experience. Alvarez didn't do much to make them want to keep him up.

It's a smart move and very un-Wilponesque. He's owed about $3,5 million. Uncle Steve can find that much in the sofa cushions in his living room. Moving on.

terrible trade that is likely to look even worse in a few months when Davis out hits the Mets' DHs

Read it after you posted. Didn't really learn anything new about Cohen, save perhaps that he's brought on some of his hedge fund guys to the Mets. Cohen is smart enough to realize that the real money to be made is in the value of the franchise, which only goes up exponentially more by winning.
Our interests are aligned.
Would love if they did something more around the ballpark, not necessarily a casino, but it would be nice to have it be a destination for a more extended day.

Dom probably will also.

I read it yesterday. I wouldn't want to work for him, but I like having him be the owner of the Mets. His son working in crypto concerns me.

I objected to the "money losing" part in the headline, which carries a lot of water for the poor-mouthing MLB owners. I don't believe for one second that even a guy as rich as Cohen owns a team so he can lose millions of dollars. I think he considers these first few years as an investment, and if the team contends every year, it will be very profitable in the future. He may also consider the team a hub for development in Willets Point, which as a whole will almost certainly make money.

Verlander -- most Mets thing ever?
I think Diaz out-Mets that.
So many to choose from.
Jason Bay. Michael Cuddyer. Jim Fregosi. (Doug Flynn, Steve Henderson, Dan Norman and Pat Zachary)

I'm sticking with Lowrie -- $20MM for a total of 8 PAs
But we digress.
Nice win last night. Got our young, promising lefty on the mound tonight. All good!

it's nice to see the same approach at the plate that they showed last year. They were able to grind out 3 runs against a Cy Young, and keep the game close before it went to the bullpens.
Bad acquisitions are different. I'm talking about deGrom getting hurt swinging bat, Ryan Church missing the base, Agbayani not knowing how many outs, Jay Payton not running out dribbler (in the WS), Verlander to IL before pitching an inning...LUIS CASTILLO...

I get you.
But Lowrie was another of those weird Mets things. Got an injury that was supposed to be a few weeks. And then he missed two years
We've got a couple of tickets left for our May 4 outing to the Baby Mets vs the Baby Bombers!
$50 includes Party Deck tickets and a nice spread. Food is served one-half hour before the scheduled game time (7 PM start) and ends one hour after the scheduled start of the game. A full bar with an assortment of bottled beer, wine, spirits, bottled water, soft pretzels, and popcorn is available for purchase. More details are here.
Proceeds benefit the local non-profit Rent Party.
Scherzer had a shaky end of 2022 and he's off to a shaky start in 2023.
Too early to be a serious trend but worrisome.
I saw a spray chart of Scherzer's pitches from last night. He was throwing it right down the middle. I suppose that's fixable for a guy with his experience. But it was easy to understand after seeing it why Milwaukee teed off on him last night.

Well at least the games are quicker.
The booth mentioned that they have NEVER done well in Milwaukee.
