Maplewood's Parkwood nominated for NJ's Best Diner!

Ann Arbor has SO many great diners!

As soon as Parkwood is open at 3am and starts making a "hippy breakfast" they can take #1 in my book. They'll have to settle for #2 for now. Any former college student from Ann Arbor can back up this claim. http://thefleetwooddiner.com/gallery/

Right @sac but it would be nice to see Parkwood at the top where it belongs.

Agreed.  I think the Parkwood has 100% fewer assaults than the Arlington Diner.

Now in 3rd, only 21 votes away from 2nd!

But only one Fleetwood!

What other nearby (within 15 miles) diner is as good as Parkwood?  Ritz?  Meh, Millburn?  Decent.  Any others?

now, 20 votes out of first place.

Come on guys, let's go for first.

You all realize this is never going to end right? First a poll on best downtown, then best diner, I can see best beach, best burger, best sub/hoagy in or future.. Definitely missing a few NJ institutions here.

With NJ.com suffering dwindling ad rates and declining audience share, these polls are clickbait gold.

Just 14 votes off from first. Use all of your electronic devices to cast a vote. Computer, tablet, phone, etc. We are so close guys!!!! Let's do this for Pete and for Maplewood!!!!

After Thanksgiving, I hope to be able to report back whether the Hippy breakfast, when sober and over 40, is still all I thought it was when I was 20...

Honestly @memorial, I don't care. If I can help Pete and his family in some way I will. To be honest, I actually like Parkwood more than any other diner and think it's more worthy to win than say, Maplewood having the best downtown.

Ann Arbor is a huge college town in another state. You are most certainly comparing apples to oranges.

and.....first!

Parkwood Diner, Maplewood 5.74%  (1,851 votes)

Arlington Diner, North Arlington 5.7%  (1,839 votes)

Budd Lake Diner, Budd Lake 5.56%  (1,792 votes)

Tops Diner, East Newark 5.26%  (1,696 votes)

Prestige Diner, New Providence 5.02%  (1,620 votes)

Just as it should be.  The Parkwood is an absolute gem.

The hippy breakfast makes an impression on you that cannot be overcome.

An open statement to the other Diners.....

Parkwood is part of the Maplewood Family.

You can mobilize your social networks, offer free ice creams for votes - whatever!

If you come after our #1 placed diner you are coming after Us.

You will unleash a hell fire of social media the likes that you have never seen!

One beat of the SOMA alarm and we can mobilize the pent-up anger of hundred of digitally savy citizens.  Every vote you muster against us, will be met ten fold.

If we can mobilize around back yard chickens imagine what we will do when you come after our beloved Mickey Mouse pancakes!

You have been warned.

YEAH !!  #1 as it should be.... remember keep Parkwood at the top and vote every day.  The last vote day is this Thursday the 12th....  Great going MAPLEWOOD !

I remember when the Parkwood took over the empty diner that was there when we were house-hunting and considered one on South Pierson almost 20 years ago.  I said to myself, "It's 2 blocks away from Park Ave, and there are no woods at this end of town."  Who cares what they named it? rolleyes Parkwood is one of the best, if not THE best I've ever been to in the tri-state area.

Oh, and the Arlington Diner is known for their cheesecake.  But the Raceway Diner, West Long Branch, has a creamier cheesecake IMHO.  question

The best cheesecake I ever had was at a diner near the Turtle Back Zoo. Scully and I were going to Kessler to visit my grandfather. The diner is long gone, torn down and replaced by a medical building. To this day if we happen to drive by that area we still reminisce about that cheesecake we had a couple of decades ago.

My favorite thing about Parkwood is their salads. I voted today.  grin

We are Number One!!!!!   Keep up the good work:

Summit Diner possibly, but only on exterior aesthetics since Pete's formerly-on-the-menu-then-off-but-quietly-still-available-and-now-soon-to-be-back-on ctrzaska's (and dad) corned beef hash has theirs beat.  Huck Finn, but only on 24hrs.

So no, none as good, though some have flashes of allure.  But no Pete, so they'd lose anyway.

Nice to see a local treasure getting its due. And also nice to see a rare appearance from AlleyGater!

Tell me more about their corned beef hash. Does it have identifiable chunks of corned beef in it?

I'd like to nominate the fire hydrant in front of my house as NJ's best fire hydrant.  Who's with me?

Parkwood, #1 !

M.O.L. at its best  !!!

Hey Pete

Wendy here. You know who I am and you especially know who my son is since he worked for you many years. Just an FYI,

I voted and will continue to vote for your diner as the best in NJ because I believe you are. Not because you finally agreed to give me a double order of broccolini the other night when I declined the potato (and had to argue with you to not overcharge me) and not because your wife Fifi is the best as is Leah and the all the staff at the Parkwood and not because you treated my son and the rest of us as family since the day you opened. I voted for you because your food is great, your service impeccable and your people skills are amazing. But put back the Mets rally towel I gave you and place it back above the register or your name is mud.

Love,

Wendy Lauter

I meant to say that too in my long-winded post!
