why not train? Wouldn't it be easier to just stay inside and switch tracks to keep going?
If not, I'd just grab a taxi. Uber can be a bit of a pain if person unfamiliar- which exit, which door
Newark Penn and Newark Broad are about a mile apart, so taking a train would require switching to the light rail. Uber will work, but the relative will have to identify clearly where s/he is -- the only Uber trouble I've ever had was getting a car to pick me up there, because of the traffic patterns nearby and the many exit doors.
uber tell her to meet car across be street at the Hilton.. cabs are too expensive
Oops, yes, sorry. I was thinking of my own line in Westfield that goes into Newark Penn.

I've done that. If you're not used to it, it can be unnerving. It was somewhat difficult finding the hotel, walking around the block in a not so safe area. The Uber took a while finding me. I was alone in the dark outside the hotel, with a fairly large group of people hanging out directly across the street. It was uncomfortable, although worked out fine.
ugh that does not sound optimal...she is not at all familiar with the area...taxi stand may be better option...anyone know the approximate fare?
If they have the Uber app, it pin points your location. Even to which terminal and door you are at. The driver would call you just to make sure of your location. It's definitely cheaper than a cab. Uber also gives you the estimate of the cost upfront. You can also make arrangements with Millburn Taxi. The cost is around $47.
Uber is tough if you don't know it or the area well. I'd pay the extra and just walk to a taxi stand. Another option- train to Union or Cranford and pick her up.
it is s quick stop (7-10 minutes) to Union and a much safer and easier train stop to order Uber from.
Where is the taxi stand at Newark Penn Station? I didn't know there was one. Wouldn't you still have to make advance arrangements for a taxi?
Here's a taxi fare finder i found by Googling, so I can't vouch for its accuracy. I set the Starbucks on Sloan Street as the destination and the fare was $25. That's in the ballpark of Uber fares I've paid for trips of about the same distance.
The taxi stand is across from the Hilton

To get to the taxi stand you walk through the waiting room and exit through the main, front door. There is a lane where the taxis line up.
The Hilton is directly across the street.

A relative is arriving tonight at Newark Penn after 10. Any suggestions as to the best transport to South Orange--Uber or taxi? Do taxi drivers typically know how to get here?
Thank you!
