Is there a reason to deny McCabe his pension?

Well he is getting quite a few job offers which will enable him to save his pension.

It will be a "kick in the head" if the Dems take over the House, appoint a Committee to investigate Russian Collusion and hire McCabe as  the Committee's Chief Counsel.

The karma of this situation is that Trump has now created even more enemies and in the end McCabe will make far more than the $1 million he lost from being fired.

This is sickening. Trump and Donald Jr. are tweeting high fives.

McCabe will lose $1 million in pension benefits - he doesn't lose his entire pension.

Part of the uptick in Trump's  rating coincides with the "dumbing down" of politics in general.  This IMO is the GOP strategy.  Grab on to big ticket items that the average person can understand and run with it.  The biggest one of course is the tax cut.  From now until November the republicans will be telling everyone that the democrats want to raise your taxes.

One item that I found hilarious that Trump used at almost every rally was "we must get rid of the death tax" which his crowds overwhelmingly applauded and cheered for - even though it didn't benefit anyone at the rally.

How did his approval ratings go up among his base last week?

Public opinion polls, unlike, say, odometers, do not measure changes with precision. Even the highest and lowest disapproval rates that NBC/WSJ has found in the last year fall within the margin of error of each other: The highest, 43 percent (this month and September), was just as likely to be as low as 40 if every American adult were asked, and the lowest, 38 percent, was just as likely to be as high as 41. As long as they stay within a six-point range, I wouldn’t read too much into the incremental fluctuations.

this is true.

It's better to look at a site like fivethirtyeight.com which aggregates a large number of polls, and trends them over time.  And then gives a range for their estimates.

re-reading BCC's post, I'm not now even sure what his point was. That the media made a mistake? That Trump is some noble truth-teller?

In addition to puzzling my way through the occasional crossword, I sometimes take a crack at understanding other people’s points. BCC can speak for himself, but I took his meaning to be that threats to its freedom can’t be all that dire if the press still manages to attack Trump and make mistakes with impunity.

If it is not clear, the 'mistakes with impunity'  refers to the media and the civilian population making outrageous comments about Trump and Trump, being a unique type of President hits back with BS of his own.

So far, the media outlets with which has tangled have not been threatened with closure. In fact, I believe many of them have profited quite well. The ones that have closed have done so from poor management.

End of that discussion as far as I am concerned, unless some one wants to continue, which I doubt.

It's possible that two these things could be true: (a) the firing of McCabe is justified; (b) Sessions would not have fired McCabe without pressure from Trump to support his claim that the investigation is a witch-hunt and that the investigation should be terminated - even though the reason that McCabe was fired had absolutely nothing to do with the Russia investigation.

eta - Sessions may have saved himself from being fired, which might be a good thing.

again, you miss the whole point of Trump's media criticisms.

You should read my posts. There's useful stuff in them.
