Gmail changes?

Suddenly I can't view my mails in Gmail without signing up for 'Gemini'???

I absolutely refuse to sign up for 'AI assistance'. How do I opt out?

I can’t vouch for this (my personal email account isn’t gmail), but it looks informative.

Thanks. I never even looked at settings before using Gmail. I have now turned off everything that annoyed me in the past.
