Burger Pix!

BTW: The only reason I've placed Johnny Rockets where I did is because of the floor show...

I just wanna have this for lunch today...

***“Cheeseburger” IS NOW A FLAVOR???***

Please, I BEG YOU: throw away that can of cheeseburger-flavored Pringles -- and not just on general principles: the company has issued a recall on that flavor, plus its taco-flavored chips, both of which seem to be contaminated with salmonella...

You're welcome.

...But, IMHO, the disturbing thing about this development (recalls aside) is that food companies would even consider manufacturing cheeseburger-flavored… well, anything but cheeseburgers, really.

Did you know that there are also cheeseburger flavored Combos? Yup, And Doritos has an “All Nighter Cheeseburger” flavored chip. Aren't flavored potato chips themselves sufficiently junk-foody?

What's next? Cheeseburger-flavored water???

We drove through Branch Brook Park this morning, ogling the cherry trees, and as we exited the park, I suggested that we go surprise Sonnyboy in Brooklyn, and take him out for lunch at Dumont Burger, where I've been waiting to go for some time... Mrs. S. nixed the idea, though.

So, this is what I *didn't* have for lunch today:

I had catsup flavored bugles in China and it was THE BEST SALTY SNACK FOOD EVER.
curse them for not exporting it to the US where it could be fully appreciated.

"damn you soda!

now I have to make a trip"

No, you don't, Monster. Sadly, Sliders closed today, after only nine months in business.

The Moral: Love your local burger place... NOW.

Guess I wasn't the only one who found the name unappealing.

If you're ever near the corner of Bedford & Grove Streets in the City, check out The Little Owl...

Here's their 8-ounce bacon cheeseburger:

I can't stand Bobby Flay. But he does know something about burgers, and has just opened a place in Philly, adding to his Evil Burger Empire.

If you care, here's his Buffalo Burger, and, if you're even less his fan than I am, a list of places you can picket...

Any opinions on Sonic?
There's supposed to be one opening on Route 22 East in Green Brook.

I've never been to one, but love the whole Drive-In concept... Waitresses on skates... Very 50's...

OTOH, heres...

We like polls around here. They offer semi-truthy snapshots of limited population attitudes. I especially value any polls on food, since they're purely quantitative, and ignore the emotional fervor frequently lurking behind the reponses.

Case in point: A Hamburger Today ( http://aht.seriouseats.com/ ) has been running a poll on chain burgers, and here's the Soda-pleasing bottom line:

Like so many things from the South, that is just wrong.

I met up with a friend in Jersey City for a beer and a bite to eat the other day. I remembered this topic and that a place in Newark called "Krug's" was recommended. So off we went! My friend is a big foodie and loves a good dive bar as well. Well we were both duly impressed! My friend wanted to order the fried seafood combo as well, but I talked him into waiting to see what our burgers felt like first. Glad we didn't.....they are enormous and delicious. The meat was very flavorful, not overcooked, a perfect carmelization and had a great texture. It is a nice coursely ground fresh beef. I should have had him take a pic with his camera phone.

And for those worried; american cheese is default, but cheddar, swiss and something else is available as well.

Our service was excellent, the small crowd entertaining and the atmosphere priceless! The bartender was fifth generation La motta.

We made the mistake of circling around for a rare parking spot. We were informed later that there is parking in the rear.

Definitely worth the trip!

I had heard some time ago that they were opening a Bobby's Burger palace in Montclair.

How come my picture isn't open, but instead a link? I checked html.....something different?

Should have taken a pic of our Gamburgers the other day. They were great! Check out Gamburgers on Valley in the arts district in West Orange.

carolanne, you appear to have excellent taste!

Promo Alert: Walk into Gamburgers, order any burger, tell the guy at the counter that you like to party, and get free fries and a soda... Really...

Tell 'em Soda sent you!

Thread Drift Alert: Here's The Coke Float available at Gamburgers.

yogopera: Will this one do?

Yogopera - Soda posted about Krug's a ways up in this thread - here.

Soda! I'm so excited with the float picture on your tread, My husband took that picture on March 28th, right before I gulped down my float at Gamburguers, and it was so good !!

Who says this thread isn't educational?

BTW:

azuleja, I'm sure that float was as delish as it looks, and I think Gamburgers is lucky to have a fan like your hubby!

BTW, why is The Cheesecake Factory playing copycat with the aforementioned West Orange eatery by calling its burger offerings "Glamburgers"?

-s.

OK, before jeffmarkel or some other flibbertyjibbett takes me to task by pointing out that The Cheesecake Factory has been around longer than Gamburgers, I'll concede the point. I'll even post the following "Glamburger" pic...

Happy now, jeffmarkel?

Harrumph.

I should hope not - dogs and burgers are different beasts altogether.

Salchipapas, anyone?

JeffMarkel......Yes he did. In my first sentence I mentioned that I read about the place on this discussion. I was offering up a back-up to his thumbs-up and a fresh review.
