Booster shots available at Sears

Recovery < Vaccine < Recovery + Vaccine < Vaccine + Booster

It appears you have stronger immunity if you have both the immunization and the antibodies from having had Covid. I'm guessing you body likely has 2 different types of attack mechanisms it can use on the virus.

Today my friend explained she had Covid, was advised a shot, got Pfizer, had a bad reaction as she has autoimmune issues, was then recommended J & J for her second so thinking we could get together.

Anyone know why it appears that there are no Moderna boosters available at Livingston Mall and/or Kmart?

All taken.   But you may be able to do a walk in.

Not for me but for a friend. Just wondering if walk ins are still welcomed...(as the sign outside indicates)

I went and brought my 87 yoa mother to Sears yesterday (Thursday) as a walk in.  No problems.  We both got the Moderna booster.  The site is now on the other side of Sears, where the tools were.

Was thinking about going today. What time is best?

My spouse and I went to the former Sears location in Livingston in the early afternoon on a weekday.  We were in and out in a little over half an hour.

 I don't believe time is a problem. I went at 10 a.m. .... no line.

Got my booster this afternoon. For some reason I was held for a full 30 minutes, when last time I think it was 20 or 15. Barely felt the shot itself. Will be "hydrating" as usual.

@ridski are you allergic to anything? It was my mild nut allergy that resulted in them giving me a 30 minute wait sticker instead of just 15.

 NSAIDs. So that’s why.

I was also held for 30 minutes. They told me (I didn't ask but they told  me...) they can no longer use nurse's descretion. Any history of allergy is an automatic full 30 minute hold.

Yes - they got me for this with my booster, too, even though my allergy is to a specific type of medicine that has nothing to do with anything related to the COVID booster. They seem to be much more exacting on allergic reactions now than when I got the original shots in Feb-Mar.  They only kept me for 15 minutes then, even though I gave them the same information about my allergy.

I was held for 30 minutes when I went for my original vaccines and it was due to allergy history.  I had no problem with that and I was still out in well under an hour even back in March and April when things were very busy.

I heard someone say if you are over 6 months  they wont turn you away. I am 62 and was vaccinated in January and may try next couple of weeks to walk in. Not sure why I would sign up on the website and wait for a approval If I can walk in.

I walked in. I was just after 6 months by a week. No appointment. No problem. And plenty of time to chat with the folks I knew from the spring when I was volunteering.

Monday-Saturday 9-4.

You might want to check ahead to see if there are appointments available now. The boosters were approved for everyone and so there may be a temporary rush of people for a week or more. My wife just tried to see when she could get a Moderna booster at Sears and Tuesday morning was the first available. Not bad but I don't know if she'd have been able to just walk in like I did a few weeks ago.

Every site accepts walkins and at least anecdotally here and on FB dozens are saying they just walked in.

Forget bothering with appointments.

GO!

I agree. Still no issues with crowds.  The only benefit to the appointment is that there seems to be less data entry at the intake table.

Hopefully that availability and capacity will still be the case. The new vaccine policy opening boosters to everyone might cause a short burst of activity though. It's no big deal.

When I went to Sears for 3rd shot, there was no line. There were about 15 "cubicles" for administering the shots. Maybe two of those had the curtain drawn and the rest had nurses standing outside waiting for someone to vaccinate.

Forget about the appointment and just walk it.

BTW, entrance is now at the lower level of the mall.

Joey D. did call the other day to say that appointments would now be required, given the increased eligibility. Interesting to know that's not the case.

I went Saturday. Friday I booked an appointment for my Moderna booster. I showed up an hour early and waltzed right in. "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You" by Kelly Clarkson was playing on their PA system.

I feel a little cruddy but overall I'm pleased.

Can you walk-in today?
