Bad Traffic Flow on Maplewood Ave

"Can we designate an appropriate U-turn alternative close?" As someone up thread pointed out "You go up Maplewood about 15 yards, turn left into the top end of the NJ Transit parking lot, then make a right at the parking lot's exit." This is in effect a U-turn.

The hitch is that this is not “a convenient way to turn around and go back again,” as mrmaplewood put it earlier. If the Post Office block of Maplewood Avenue is your goal for parking, you still have some circling to do before you’re heading in the right direction again.

But that’s the price for having a relatively narrow parking target. There’s really no convenient way to troll a specific area.

Stopping to do business at the post office is a problem as there is no convenient way to turn around and go back again unless you go out of your way and proceed all the way up to Ridgewood Ave, then over to Baker and back down again.  There should be an easy alternative, but I can't think of it.
You go up Maplewood about 15 yards, turn left into the top end of the NJ Transit parking lot, then make a right at the parking lot's exit. Takes less than a minute.

The trip up Lenox Pl to Ridgewoood and back down Baker takes about 2 minutes. What in heaven's name is onerous about that?

Not likely. Cops are too busy sitting in their cars next to roadwork, playing with their phones.

They’re not on duty while doing that.  But thanks for playing.

Yup. The solution is to take whatever parking space you can find, even it means having to walk for a couple of minutes.

If every able-bodied person just resolved to settle for a space within a couple blocks of their destination, a lot of these so-called parking "problems" would likely disappear.

Whenever I enter Maplewood center from the direction of South Orange I try to remind myself to park as soon as I see a spot, even if I'm going to Coda or the Ice Cream place or Able Baker. If I pass an empty spot in front of Bill and Harry's I always curse myself when I don't find a spot by Bagel Chateau, for instance.
