Achievements of the Day: Post something you did today that made you proud!

Taught my nephew to pee on the toilet ( he just turned 2 in January). My sister was mad ( added bonus- LOL) because he always tells he no when she asks.

Cynicalgirl, I LOVE cottage cheese or plain Greek yogurt stirred together with just about any kind of berry, raw almonds, and a spoonful of honey. Yum.

My current favorite protein shake is a cup of vanilla soy milk, half a cup of plain Greek yogurt, one scoop of strawberry protein powder, a handful of frozen berries, and a ripe banana, all whizzed up in the blender.

And yes, I've been living on stuff like this for the past two weeks, more or less.

Finally started sorting stuff for income tax yesterday.

(and since I'm too lazy to find the Confessions thread: today I just let it sit)

After 4 days of making progress only on paper (on the computer I guess it is digital paper) today I got out and ran errands. As a result I managed to take 8 trips off of my "to do" list!

Went to Costco (which I despise on a crowded day), got home and took all the wearable winter jackets out of the overflowing attic closet and brought them down to the now empty front closet, so we can see what we have (I know it's out of season but we mainly use the mud room closet now). Ended up with a giant box for the vets, then I was inspired and I got two more bags ready for the vets.
My goal is to have minimal stuff stored in the attic. My youngest doesn't like the same styles her sisters wore, so it's silly to hang onto too much.

We FOUND the lake we spent our honeymoon on, and we found the spot where the lodge and cabins were. We talked to the couple who bought it all and turned it into their home. Our honeymoon, thirty-one years ago (Mountainhouse) was in the Berkshires. And better yet, we found a spot to launch our kayaks when we bring them north, so our early summer weekends are looking good! We have lost about 20 lbs between us, I with teaching high school and my husband with daily exercise walking in an urban Massachusetts park.

Congrats elspeth. Guess we were married two days apart, and that's not the only coincidence. Mrs. Mountainhouse and I have our own exercise routines, and we've lost 20 lbs between us as well! (She's lost 24 lbs., and I've gained 4 lbs.). :-(

Happy anniversary!

Wait, you guys are not a couple? Now I am really confused.

It ain't Brie, though.

It ain't $15 lb.

Especially not at Corrado's in Clifton. I believe we paid 2.99 lb. for a wheel of some decent Brie.

Edited to add: Can't figure out why this link go live. Might have something to do with the blockquotes above.

I did not do anything but wanted to write about the extremely helpful young men I saw last night. We were on a late train out of Penn Station. It was packed due to Springsteen fans from the Madison Square Garden concert. A group of 20 somethings not only carried luggage for an older couple, but got them seats. They then proceeded to have a lengthy conversation with the couple, who were returning home from a Passover seder (she had a wheeled ice chest). By the time we got off in Maplewood, they had exchanged names, business cards, etc.

Despite being packed in like sardines, it was a pleasant experience. Anyone who looked like they might need a seat was offered a seat. People were talking with strangers. A few guys were sharing extra bottles of beer, which added to the festive atmosphere.
Springsteen fans rock!

I was bad today but Good Friday.

I got both of my babies down for a nap at the same time!

At $2.99 /lb you can't really expect live links, can you?

Seems we have lots in common, but different spouses.

Acted as a stevedore all the live long day and did not suffer a heart attack -- and did not kill my husband.

Probably not even sausage links.

Despite a horrible fibromyalgia flare up, I managed to do today's necessary errands, and finish the Easter shopping

We have been out of town for 10 days...back three and this thread has prompted me to get up and do what I have been putting off for three days...If I am sucessful, I will post tomorrow!!

PS- happy late anniversary Mountainhouse....

Walked hills for 2 hours.

Filed my taxes.
Made it through Passover without eating any of the usual indulgences.
Abstained from all Easter Candy.

My husband and I took his recently widowed Mom out to the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown. How gorgeous it was!

picked up garbage in Memorial Park, walked the dog, ran 5 miles, did pilates, did sketches for a client.

Yesterday, I did NINE errands in 1 hour 45 minutes! I spent the last 6 hours today escorting my MIL to Target, Wine Library, lunch and doctor's appointments. I managed to remain patient the entire time.

Finally have everything in place to make gluten-free, low-sodium taco salads for my niece's upcoming bridal shower. Make 50 corn tortilla taco bowls? No problem!

I gave excellent job interview!

After taking 5 yoga classes in less than a week, my chiropractor said my back was much less tight. I could tell the difference when he did the adjustment. I am happy to not have back pain!

My kids are no longer in our school system, but I voted in the BOE election anyhow.

-s.

BTW: Polls are open till 9PM. There's still time...
