I am also super curious about Biden (and Democrat) fundraising numbers for September. We already know McConnell's SCOTUS decision gave it a big boost, but I also suspect the first debate triggered donations, because we have all seen clear and present danger to our country now on live national TV.

"Joe Biden's campaign hauled in nearly $10 million during the first presidential debate Tuesday night — smashing its own single-hour fundraising record, as small-dollar donors continue to fuel the former vice president's mounting money advantage.

Biden's campaign raised $3.8 million during the 10 to 11 p.m. hour Tuesday night, as Biden and President Donald Trump clashed in a insult-laden debate. From 9 p.m. to midnight, the Biden campaign brought in nearly $10 million from 215,000 donors, including more than 60,000 new contributors to the campaign, according to a Biden campaign official. Nearly 100,000 signed up to volunteer for the Biden campaign during the debate, as well."

btw - Trump is in NJ today for a fundraiser in Bedminster. I was turning onto Columbia Tpk. from Park Ave in Florham Park and saw his helicopter taking off from Morristown airport. Big whoop.

Isn't there some tax scam going on with his Bedminster golf club? Something where they are pretending they are a farm to evade taxes or something? Sounds like something the IRS should look into, and maybe NJ AG.

Trump's Bedminster golf club gets a farm tax exemption because he keeps eight goats on the property and raises hay.

Springsteen and Bon Jovi also use the farm tax exemption.

trigger warning. this is one of the more depressing takes on the coming election i've seen.

I heard it on the radio today. You can listen to the interview at the link also.

and no one is even going to talk about this rather big story

hmm. so what was the big news of the day?

Can't quite nail it.....

Someone got the covid?

It's been one helluva year of a week.

30 days out, some poll porn

here's some searing logic from the Republican brain trust

As an unseen President Trump battled the coronavirus at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, hundreds of maskless supporters gathered shoulder to shoulder for rallies on Staten Island and on the Mall. In Iowa, a bright red “Team Trump on Tour” bus traversed the state for events, including at least one indoor stop where few were masked.

On a weekend when it felt like so much had changed, Trump’s most fervid supporters across the country reacted to his illness with a fatalistic shrug about what that meant for him and for them.

“If the leader of the free world can get this, I think it’s kind of silly for the rest of us to pretend a $3 handkerchief from Walmart is going to protect us,” said Brian Westrate, the Wisconsin Republican Party treasurer who believes the coronavirus is a real threat and complies with a statewide mask mandate but is a “skeptic of the societal response.”

Today Trump got antsy watching TV all day and decided to expose his SS detail to COVID so he could drive by and wave to the MAGATS who were blasting music at intolerable levels in front of the hospital.

Perfectly normal.

29 more days! Really? Can't we get this election over with already? This is exhausting.

We better not have any more weeks like the last one. I just might have to take up a fetal position somewhere.

Today took the only issue he has an edge on, the economy, and flushed it down the toilet.

there's really too much bad news to keep track of

too much

it's been two days since Trump has made a live appearance before the public/press.

Though he's tweeting like a lunatic.

It wasn't  a live appearance before the public/press, but he posted a video on Twitter at 6:00 pm yesterday saying that Regeneron's   monoclonal antibody treatment was "key to his recovery."  He looked very good. Regeneron's COVID-19 treatment  is probably a topic better discussed in other treads, but it's the real deal. Regeneron has filed for emergency use authorization.

Trump posted a short video that had at least one obvious "jump" that shows that it wasn't a single, continuous take.

Today the debate commission said the second debate would be virtual.

Trump immediately said no way. I ain't coming.

We'll see...

It's so easy to get under his skin. He is very predictable.

Biden should show up to the Town Hall anyway. And spend the time calling Trump a coward, and telling everyone that it's Trump's idiotic recklessness that caused the coronavirus outbreak at the White House, and it's the reason why he's not at the debate.

If it's virtual - he'll hold rally instead.  Haven't we seen this show before?

So nonsensical for a candidate who's trailing by a lot to opt out of a debate. Like a basketball team down by 10 points with 3 minutes left trying to run out the clock.

 he's going viral again

Town Hall Style "Debate". The questions are from citizens not moderators. Trump can't respond by attacking the moderator or the media.

He is taking "going viral" to a whole new level

today President Braintrust explained that fish need water to survive.

I think the time has come where we start focusing on the Senate

 It's very close.

Current count - 47 seats.

Minus Jones in AL -- 46.

Plus CO. Plus AZ -- 48

ME -- Gideon's ahead, but will be close. 49.

NC -- was looking decent, but Cunningham has an extramarital sexting scandal going on. Hopefully he weathers it -- if so, that's 50 and, with Harris as VP, control of the Senate.

IA - plausible, but very close.

Everything past that feels like quite a bit of a stretch to me.

---

I'm basically just looking at the 538 Senate margins. The default model is their "delux" view. If you go to the polls-only model it looks better for the Dems, but still by no means assured.

There are opportunities to assist in Senate campaigns in other States. SOMA Action is working on Maine, North Carolina and Arizona. If you want to help go to the faceboook page.

Or Google any Senate race.
