Seeking: Full-Time Housekeeper/House Manager

Big Picture:

We’re looking for a warm, detail-oriented, experienced housekeeper/house manager for a full-time (M-F) live out position in West Orange, NJ.

About Us:

We’re a couple recently moved into West Orange and setting up our home. We’ve got two small dogs. We don’t have children right now but are starting a family in the next 1-2 years. We both work from home. We both enjoy healthy living/eating.

Job Overview:

There are five main areas of responsibility for this position:

1. House keeping – mostly, this is keeping the house tidy, doing laundry, make/change beds, keeping the kitchen and bathrooms fresh and stocked, letting the dogs out, spot cleaning problem areas. We have a deep cleaning team that comes weekly (as the house is large).

2. Food preparation – grocery shopping, refrigerator and pantry management, make tea, sandwiches, snacks, salads, lunches, juices, smoothies, prep ingredients for us to cook dinner. Goal here is to save time and have ready-to-grab things to make life easy. We enjoy hosting, so help setting up tables, prepping service, etc.

3. House management – manage the house maintenance schedule (i.e. cleaners, landscapers, service providers, gutters, sprinklers, pest folks, deliveries, etc.). Outside errands like dry cleaning, tailor, post office, bank, etc.

4. Organizing – we’re looking for someone who’s organizationally-minded and can help us make best use of kitchen, closet, laundry, basement, entertaining, etc. storage and set up. Basically, someone who likes to solve problems and make things easier, more efficient, etc.

5. Lifestyle & Little Touches – lastly, there are the little touches that are hard to describe, but come with getting to know us, learning patterns and preferences. A well-timed cup of tea, fresh flowers, favorite snacks, knowing what/when to restock, surprise treat, a fresh scent in the house, etc.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

We’re looking for someone who’s already had experience in a similar role (and can share at least 2 references). Someone who’s open to feedback, willing to learn, a good communicator. Someone who’s independent, self-sufficient, proactive, and able to research, solve problems, and troubleshoot on their own – i.e. someone who seeks the answer themselves before asking the question. Someone who’s got a light touch and an easy disposition. Someone who focused on details, level of quality, and refined. Someone who’s responsible with money.

Extras:

Willingness to extend hours or work a weekend day (for extra pay) on very rare occasions to help set up or serve when we’re hosting.

Must have a car (and be licensed).

Must be willing to participate in a background check.
