Sat July 17 Severe Thunderstorm Watch, Heat Advisory, Flash Flood Watch

Yet another Heat Advisory as this month's weather pattern continues from Thursday, July 15 through Saturday July 17

The NWS has issued a Heat Advisory for today and tomorrow as daytime heat indexes will exceed 95° both days (and likely Saturday as well)

There is a slight chance of a shower this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon, with a moderate chance Saturday. Showers Saturday would bring slightly lower temperatures if they occur

 It happens

Seemed like when I was young, August was the hottest month. Now it seems like July. I may be misremembering, but that's what I recall.

I actually looked this up because I thought Aug was hotter too, but apparently July has usually been the hottest month.

Stevie wonder knew it, his album “hotter than July” sold millions.
neil diamond also did really well with “ hot august night”

For Saturday July 17th

Hazy, hot, and humid, with thunderstorms likely late this afternoon and evening

There is a Heat Advisory and a Flash Flood Watch today. Thunderstorms this evening may bring heavy rain on to already saturated ground

Huh! I just looked too. (I forgot I could do that, even though I have the NWS site bookmarked.) Not by much but definitely hotter.

I moved to NJ from Michigan in June, 2004, and marveled at the beautiful 80+ weather with very little humidity, since that's kinda not a thing in the Mitten. I asked an old-timer if this is what NJ weather is like. He chuckled and walked away. In July, I learned ... ... ...

If you look at the average temperature by day instead of by month, part of August is just as hot as July.  The last half of August brings down the monthly average.  So if you think July is the hottest month, or August, you're kind of correct with either answer.  The hottest 30 days in NJ typically stretches through the first week in August.

It's raining.

No hail in that one but I measure just over 1" of rain in 35 minutes
