Wordle daily word puzzle

This is a much better site for the archive games: https://www.devangthakkar.com/wordle_archive/?220

I use this site also.  It's very good

Wordle 225 3/6*

I'm a little embarrassed how long it took me to get this word after I had 4 out of 5 letters in the right place. Coffee should come first.

Not too upset with this result. Got it pretty quickly.

I just discovered there's a "hard" mode, but it turns out it just forces you to play the way I normally play.

Yes, when you play in "hard" mode, there is an asterisk on the shareable diagram. In one of the many articles discussing Wordle it said, "Some enjoy showing their friends that they play on 'hard' mode, while others enjoy the self-satisfaction of playing on hard mode without broadcasting it to their friends."
But like you, I always just played that way anyway.

I usually play in "hard" mode but I have not selected that setting.  Today's Wordle, for me and many others I've seen, turns "hard" mode into a guessing game.  I chose what I consider a smarter approach on that one in order to determine rather than guess the missing letter.

rumor has it the the NYT bought wordle ( for a tidy sum)!

CNN reports NYT bought it for a figure in “the low seven figures.” Wow!

The article I read says that they will keep it free.  But I think they said that about Wirecutter too, and now, unless you are a print subscriber, it costs $40/year to subscribe.  Even if you pay the monthly fee for an online subscription, as we do.  So we shall see.

All reports I’ve heard/read today have said we’ll probably have to subscribe within a year. I don’t begrudge Josh Wardle his $$$ but the articles are written to be confusing over the question of subscription  cool cheese

I don’t check in often, so I’ve missed your conversations. As I mentioned I’m playing the games from Day 1 forward at the site I posted.  I haven’t played anything more current.  My routine is to play 5 games twice a day.  I lost the stats for the first 20 days.  Days21-69 I failed to solve twice.   I don’t know how you guys are doing.

I definitely will not go for a paid subscription.  I’ll work under the assumption NYT, Will Shortz will keep it close to how it is now.

BTW, has anyone tried the 6 letter version?   Thoughts?

I already pay the $40 so no biggie (unless they up the fee for wordle)(which they might)

we get the sunday paper only delivered-the rest of the week is onlune

How did you change the colors of your squares from the usual green and yellow?

There is a colorblind mode (which helps colorblind people like me). Look under the settings icon.

My husband got two charges on his banking statement from NY Times. He called and found out that one was for the puzzles (his late wife loved them). He was going to cancel. I said noooo! I do them every day.

Added a timed feature to mine - and it's colorblind friendly:

@jamie,

Does it help to make up the puzzle?

Comments- third time I tried the game—better,  first time I had a letter in perfect place early; showed as NOT in game.  Don’t recall why second time didn’t work for.  Today, much better will play again.

Please add a virtual keyboard, with colors.

Absolutely love the insert any letter in middle of guess word.   The other version requires erasing all letters and retyping to change one letter.  This version is TOPS on this.

IT HAPPENED AGAIN!!  Same exact thing— I used AISLE as guess 1 and puzzle showed I not in word.  Not only is it in the word it’s in proper position.  That’s the same as happened in my first attempt at this game.  That time I used AISLE and that day answer was biter.  Didn’t; won’t play other games today.

What gives?

Weird - it shows as orange for me.

Did it this morning during my coffee intake. I’m not saying it helped me solve the puzzle. But I’m not NOT saying it did either.

I was one letter from getting it in two today.

Is this in Jamie's game or Wordle?  I believe that in Wordle they have a limited word list and the message actually says that the word is not in the list (?)

Probably because you have a good sense...

I  read that the New York Times had recently purchased the rights  to Wordle, this morning when I opened the game their name was in the header.  Can a fee be far behind?
