Willie McCovey................when legends die

Willie McCovey ,  a mainstay of the baseball Giants has passed away.

He was known not only for his thundering home runs but also his polite manner.

He came to the team when they had made the move to San Francisco from New York.

Willie Mays was not wholly accepted by the locals.  McCovey was bathed in adoration by them.

A member of a team that always seem to fall a game or two short of a pennant.........He,  along with Mays , Cepeda and Juan Marichal made monday morning back to work less onerous.

How many people have a body of water named for them?

Thanks and screw RIP.  No doubt he is swinging a bat some where.

Great quote, on the day of his HOF induction in 1986:

"People ask me how I'd like to be remembered. I tell them I'd like to be remembered as the guy who hit the line drive over Bobby Richardson's head."
