where to donate motorized wheelchairs

the charging system on 1 is malfunctioning and it would need new batteries, but should be fixable....the other would also need new batteries and a joystick and is a high end model that reclines.

i tried mda but they only accept chairs less than 3 years old, they suggested another agency which I don't remember the name of, but they didn't want them either.

goodwill has a medical resale business in south jersey...but i was hoping to find something closer that may even pick up...the one chair is very heavy and to get into my van with a portable ramp...and I have dropped off household items locally and gotten attitude from the manager of the store on rt 22 for asking if they could unload my car for me.

i really want to makes sure they don't just go to someone who will re sell for personal profit.

Maybe try these folks?

The primary service and advocacy organization in Vailsburg is Unified Vailsburg Services Organization (UVSO). Founded as an ecumenical coalition with a mission to stabilize the neighborhood in 1972, UVSO now serves an average of 1,200 Vailsburg residents every day through a wide range of programs. These include three preschool centers, four public school-based after school programs, a teen center, a senior center, transportation, meals on wheels, home makers and visiting nurses, community organizing, and housing development.

I'd also try churches and social services agencies in Irvington, East Orange, and Orange.
