where to buy ice?

Hello,

I need to buy some ice for a party on Saturday in Maplewood. I'd like to get a couple of 50lb bags if I can find that available locally. Otherwise, somewhere that has reasonable prices on the smaller bags. I hear that Costco has good ice prices, but I don't think I'll have time to drive out there on Saturday. Pathmark is an option; though the largest bag they sell is 16lbs. Any advice? I'm hoping there is a party supply store or vendor around with an ice machine that will sell large quantities.

Thx in advance!

Are you talking about the Costco in Union or rt 10? Because the Union one is maybe 15 minutes and you don't have to use 22 to get there.

Yes, but Costco on a Saturday morning is never fast or fun. It's usually annoyingly overcrowded; and I expect round trip with grabbing ice, waiting in line, etc would take an hr or so. And I just called, and they do not sell ice at that location anyway. I assumed they did since I've been in others that do....

I got a single bag which contained 6 individual bags of ice, each about 6 or 8 pounds at 7-11 on Springfield Ave. last Sunday for $15.00. So figure about 40 to 50 lbs of ice for $15. Just another data point...

Thanks for the tips! The 7-11 is very close to me, and that sounds like a good price. It's cheaper at the place mentioned in E Orange, but I like the 2 minute drive to 7-11 and the quick in/out. There's an ice store in Morris Plains that sells a sleeve of ice (contains 6 7lb bags) for 9.50 or a 35 lb bag for 7.50. The markup at 7-11 isn't as bad as I expected.
