What to see/do in Ontario...

We will be driving from Toronto to Montreal this summer. I would love to hear about any must sees/interesting sights along the way. Also recommendations within Toronto...

Thank you!

I like Rodney's Oyster House in Toronto.

anything else? I know there are some Canadians out there!

My sister lives in Toronto will msg her and get back to you.

OKay this is my sister's response on Toronto.

In Toronto they want to go up the CN tower, ripleys aquarium,  Casa Loma, the Market  On Jarvis.
Take the boat over to Toronto island, a blue Jays game.., let me know if they want more ideas.

There's not much worth stopping for between Montreal and Toronto.  I've done that drive probably 100 times and you just want to get where you're going.

Not that I've ever made that trip, but my limited knowledge calls to mind Kingston, United Canadas' first capital and home of Ontario's only World Heritage Site. Next is the Thousand Islands, then Ottawa, where the Capital settled in 1857 after bouncing around six cities in Upper (Ontario) and Lower ( Quebec) Canada.

As for Toronto, being a transit nut, just riding around the busiest streetcar system in North America is unbeatably real sightseeing combined with an experience since lost to most cities. These streetcars for the most part run down the middle of busy main streets as they all once did.

About 20 minutes east of Downtown, but worth the trip, is the amazing R.C.Harris Water Treatment Plant. Known as "The Palace of Purification," this enormous Art Deco castle supplies drinking water to almost half of Toronto.  Sadly only the grounds are open, but there are few essential pieces of public works as striking.

Very helpful--thank you! Kingston will be a great half way stop!

Canadas Wonderland is just o/s Toronto.  If you liked the flintstones, they had a section devoted to them last time i went.  Also Ottowa if you go the long way.  Think A more boring DC. In toronto, CN tower.

Also, in Toronto, the Distillery district is worth a visit.  Or walk along Queen Street around where it crosses Spadina for an interesting mix of restaurants.

tjohn's mention of The Distillery (http://www.thedistillerydistrict.com/) reminded me of this place, which apparently has other locations as well: http://www.somachocolate.com/. Definitely high-end quality at a high-end price, but a very nice treat, and a coincidentally notable name.

Not sure if you are into museums, but there are the usual suspects: ROM (https://www.rom.on.ca/en/exhibitions-galleries/exhibitions/current-exhibitions) and AGO (http://www.ago.net/exhibitions), and the unusual Bata Shoe Museum (http://www.batashoemuseum.com/). I've only been to AGO, many years ago to see the Barnes exhibit, but it's worth checking to see if any current exhibits are of interest while you're there.

Are you going just the adults or with kids?
