What the Heck is a Gar-Bar?

It sounds like a man cave that you invite neighbors over to. Make it look like your favorite NYC bar, keep it well stocked.

I guess as long as you're considerate of your neighbors it sounds like a fun thing to do if you have the time, space and money.

there was a new sitcom the other night about a lady who, started a bar in her backyard. Not sure about the show but the idea seemed kind of cool. No one had to drive. People could watch their houses from the yard. Lol

Gar bar = garage bar or bar in your garage.  Apparently, this is a new thing in town.

It was called Abby’s and it had a good cast. Not sure I’d watch it again but it was cute.

the next one should be called the Dram Shop.

Other thoughts for garage repurposing?

How about a Gar-art Gallery?

Gar-Ink Studio?

A variation ... The Beer Gar-den

Wow, that is cool. And when is New Jersey going to loosen up with the liquor licenses anyway.? Not that you need one for your garage.

I have the perfect garage for this.

they need live music

At least it's way better than a controversy over breast feeding at the pool or gates at the end of some blocks....

It reminds me of the "gourmet kitchen" trend. People want to recreate, in their homes, an experience of going out. In this case it's a space in the owner's home that elicits the experience of being in a trendy (or publish or divey) bar.

I'm not sure what it adds to the experience of "come over and we'll have drinks and food on our patio/deck". To me the experience is about the people and socialization rather than the surroundings.

But nobody asked me...

Call me an old fogey, but I like to keep my cars in the garage ... so much easier when dealing with snowstorms, falling tree branches, poopy birds, leaves and pollen, etc.

I don’t have a garage, but if I did I would love to be able to keep my car in it

Madness. What's next. Eating in the dining room?

Problem solved. Keep the car in the garage as a comfortable loveseat. Fully stocked bar, music, lots of ambience and the kick of drinking in the car with no risk of getting pulled over. A take on those champagne fountains.... pour white wine in the window washing fluid. Of course there are still risks.

Guess it could be renamed the Gar-Car-Bar.

What if it was a few miles away?

If it was a few miles away, of course, it would be a far- car- gar- bar.

How about a Gar Go Go Bar?  Live and let live and all.

It's not a code violation if everything is built to code and you're not charging for the drinks.
