Was there a shred-it day on Saturday April 7?

I was looking up the rake-out dates, and saw that the MPW schedule called for a shred-it day this past Saturday. I didn't hear anyone talking about it, so I was wondering if it did take place. I will call DPW tomorrow, since they are closed now, but I was wondering if it might have been postponed.

I just searched and it supposedly WAS then and electronics recycling also.  Aargh!  I needed that!

I'm told that Staples does shredding at low cost. Haven't tried them myself yet.

It was and it happened. There was a Nixle text notification and an email. UPS store also shreds.

On a couple of past occasions when I have missed Maplewood's Shred-It day for whatever reason, I have been able to unload my shredding via a similar event held by the Chatham Senior Center at the Chatham Train Station.  (It's a charity event, so you pay a modest donation for each bag or box of paper brought to be shredded.)  The info about the next one, coming up on April 28th, is on their website at http://www.chathamseniorcenter.org/.

I would go to the UPS store if it wasn't for the hassle of having to park and then drag in my boxes.  The drive-up arrangement for the Shred-it day is just so much easier especially if dealing with multiple boxes of paper. (Although it has gotten worse with the long lines in the last year or so.)

Not sure why I didn't get the Nixle text message.  I get all the messages about road closings, but got nothing about this. LOL

I didn't get the Nixle alert either. I usually do.

I got the Nixle alert.

If you make this a favorite https://www.twp.maplewood.nj.us/or like Maplewood DPW FB page, you can be privy to these types of things...

There will be a free shredding event sponsored by Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, West Essex in Verona on Saturday, May 19th, in support of our national charity. The Sunshine Kids, which supports children with cancer. If you would like additional details, please PM me.

DPW has a facebook page.  They listed that as well as notices about the backlog on collecting storm and rake out debris

I went to like it and found out that I already had.  Somehow I was jinxed this time and missed every notification opportunity for this event.  LOL

How do these things work?  Do you leave your stuff with them or do they shred it while you are there?

Klinker, unless they changed it for this last one (which I missed), you drive there and unload car by car, and they run your stuff through the hopper while you are there. I've never seen anyone leave their material to be shredded later.
