United One Time Club Passes- Kids Each Need One?

I am still not clear after reading conditions on United website.  We have 4 United Club passes that Id like to use on an upcoming trip.  We have 5 people- 2 adults, 17 yr old, 9 yr old, 6 yr old.  Will each person need a pass or just those over 18?

"Customers must be 18 years of age or older to use a one-time pass. Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by someone 18 years of age or older during their United Club visit.

A one-time pass admits one person, with no guests, to a United Club location. A one-time pass cannot be used at an Arrivals facility, Global FirstSM Lounge or Star AllianceTM lounge."

I believe under 18 is considered guest on the adult pass. however, only one kid per adult in my experience. so looks like 3 passes in your situation.

It may depend on the mood of the person behind the desk when you get there.  I'm thinking you might get away with two, but I would bring them all just in case.

2 would be awesome and 3 fine too.  It sort of sounded like the kids under 18 would be guests but it wasn't 100% clear when using passes vs. club membership.  We plan to arrive really early for an 8am flight so knowing they can get some snacks and have a comfortable place to sit will be good.  Glad I don't need 5! Thanks!

I re-read what you posted originally, and now I'm not so sure.  I've never actually taken a kid in with me but I have definitely seen kids in there with their families.  Good luck!

LOL Yes, I've seen kids too. The question is how many passes will be required? One per person or one per adult and kids admitted free with the adult? We are NOT United Club members.

There is a clear difference between MEMBERSHIP and one-time passes. If you're not a member you need a pass for every person unless you get a nice person who is willing to break the rules. That's how I understand this.

okay, so we have a very different answer from above! Fun!

We are not members. We have those little card passes. So, policy is every person regardless of age needs one?

The actual rule is that on a one time pass you can bring kids under 2.  Otherwise it's 1 pass per person. You may get lucky but unlikely.  Honestly, I fly frequently and I only use the lounge if I'm on a big delay Terminal C has been fully renovated and the options outside the club are more interesting than what's inside.  And the snacks are pretty lame.

thanks- I know what's there. I think it's actually gotten better last year or so. To a kid, a place where they can help themselves to snacks and drinks is pretty fun. But I only have 4 passes so I guess I can ask but it doesn't sound likely.

Next time, it's Delta and that Centurion lounge at LGA!

I wonder if anyone might have one of those passes about to expire that they would give you?  Might be worth an ISO post here or on Facebook.  (I had a couple recently, but they have now expired.)

I just posted 2 I have expiring 6/30- if anyone has two to trade, that would be awesome!

When is your trip?

a few days after! (Of course!)

I've purchased cheap one-time passes on Ebay.

i recently used club passes, and it seemed like they expected a pass for the kid. i was surprised at how crowded the united lounge was - it was more  crowded then the lounge at the gate!

I've heard reports that they can somehow track that these passes aren't aren't being used by their original owner -- and folks have been turned away at the club. Not sure how they do that (there is a barcode on the back), but it would violate the "may not be sold, bartered, traded, exchanged or purchased" term on the back.

Yeah, I realized the other day that I haven't used the United lounges at EWR in quite a while.  I know they've upgraded their offerings in the last year or so, but there are plenty of more comfortable food/drink options in Term C now -- that cost a pretty penny, of course.  To conandrob240's point, I can see how kids would get a kick out of unlimited drinks and snacks at the lounges.

not to mention that'll be 6am so little will be open anyway.

I think the tracking thing is a tale. They sometimes give these passes away at charity events ( MASH has a toy drive where they are given out if you donate a toy) and there is no recording or tracking of them. Now, maybe the eBay ones were identified as counterfeit- that might be plausible

Yes Every kid needs one--We were there once with enough passes for us and all kids but one.  And they turned us away.  United---The Family Unfriendliest Airline in the Skies.

Geez that's a little harsh for the few pretzels and cup of soda a little kid is going to consume.  At least I know now!

Maybe we'll leave the little one out there in the lobby with them LOL Then they'll be sorry they didn't just let us all in!

if you haven't been to that particular lounge before trust me you aren;t missing anything.

Again, I have been plenty of times and I know what's there.  The kids love going there- they think its very cool.  Worst case, I can send them in with my husband while they enjoy.  Thanks.

But any other options that would be free for Amex Platinum card holders flying on United that day?
