travel to/from Cape Cod --which days of the week are best/worst

When?

this is pretty dependent on time of year. 

When we go we usually leave after the rush hour traffic, on a weekday, my son and his family live there and have cranberry bog farm, just a couple of miles from the cape proper, so we don't ever have to cross the bridges. We always take the Merritt Parkway. The couple of times we left at 6:00A we got caught in the Connecticut rush hour, almost as bad as here. It is never a fun drive, anytime of the year. It is worse than terrible in the summer. We are heading there sometime in May and again in Sept. 

The one time we went last summer, Friday night was godawful. 

We leave at the crack on a Sunday.  Never had an issue.

Last year I left at 2:00 PM on a Friday and it took 8 hours to get to Yarmouthport.  Never. agian.  Next time I leave at 2:00 AM.

we've left at 4am on saturday and made it in 5.5 hrs

....and at 630am another year and it took more like 8 or 9 hrs

Yep. That happened when we left at 5:00pm on a Friday. 

I left around 5:00 AM on Thanksgiving once, rather than drive the night before.  Fast trip.  Even took the GWB and had it all to myself.
