Somehow I completely missed this thread.

Excited to go through it!

Johnny Cash. "Don't Take Your Guns To Town"

Don't forget the yacht rock crowd got in on the action... Christopher Cross and Michael McDonald on backup. Heh.

Somehow forgot this sweet thing when this thread was alive:

Townes Van Zandt, "Poncho and Lefty."

my all time favorite song!

i haven't found a bad version yet but i have fond memories of seeing him at the Cactus Cafe in Austin when i lived there in the late 80's /early 90's

Picked up Jack Bruce’s solo debut at the latest Maplewood record fair, so here’s his OP version of one of bub’s OP songs.

Excellent playlist! Some of my favorite artists here. In fact, I saw Marty Stuart and the Red Dirt Rangers (separately) recently (I live in Red Dirt country now) and saw Dave Alvin/Jimmie Dale Gilmore a couple months ago in NYC. The Outlaw Country Cruise is my annual travel splurge.

Bromberg's "Young Westley" is a beautiful bluegrass western outlaw song.  Apologies if I already posted it when the the thread was firs active)

Thanks! Over time I've created other fun playlists that may be of interest. Here's one: "Living in a Political World." (Politics, racism, criminal justice, domestic violence, war, commercial dishonesty, pop culture and more.)

kthnry, I looked at the performers on the Outlaw Country Cruise. Very nice line up. Shinyribs alone makes it worth the price of admission. I saw him/them at City Winery couple months ago and he/they were so much fun. One of my favorite shows of 2023, for sure.

Love Todd.  Didn't know this one.

Same here, but I had never heard this album, classic though it is, until I bought it used last weekend.

We Gotta Get You a Woman off that album is an all time gem from his early days.

(That was his first solo album, which was just Runt. This one, with the added subtitle, was his next album. Thankfully, when he was through with two, he got something new.)

Philly burbs in the lanai. Nice.

Exactly.  Two Philly guys from roughly the same era with affinity for the Philly soul sound.   And however you feel about Hall and Oats, Live From Daryl's House is just a great source of live music. He has a top notch band (and H&O always had great musicians supporting their shows) and terrific guests, old timers and contemporary performers.

yep. I never liked H&O but love the Live from Daryl's sessions.

I liked H and O in their very early days.  Abandoned Luncheonette, from whence the big hit "She's Gone" came, is a lovely album.  Like a lot of artists I liked early in their careers, I liked their output less and less as they got bigger.   That's not to say they didn't have some good songs in their stardom era.
