"Teaneck resident Bob McGrath, 84..."
I went to Teaneck High School with his daughter, and was in theater class with her. He was in the (very small) audience when our class did our final performances. I ended up sitting next to him and chatting after my scenes were done. I was not very good at theater, but I enjoyed it. He was a super nice, and so was his daughter, who was probably two years ahead of me.
Hmmm...if Sesame Street (now on HBO) doesn't know how to model how to include grandparents (maybe some are even great-grandparents) into our regular lives,... is everyone just supposed to figure it all out on our own?
C'mon Sesame Street.... you're doing the opposite of helping.
Wow, I'm really sad about that. I remember how important Mr. Hooper was to me as one of the older characters on the show.
But I can also recognize that it's 2016 and Sesame Street has to fight to stay relevant in a crowded media landscape (HBO saved them when PBS couldn't provide the funding). I grew up with these characters but I also haven't watched the show in years (I've checked in once in a while and don't recognize it). It's easy to say that it's a bunch of suits being mean, but the whole enterprise is powered on research and hopefully the shorter episode length and cast changes can keep things fresh and appealing for generations to come.
From Twitter: "Today's show brought to you by the letters B S!
‘Sesame Street’ axes one, two, three favorite human characters."
Sesame Workshop is now in bed with HBO who is known for age discrimination Several big lawsuits pending.
Good riddance to bad garbage. Get Cersei Lannister on that show and class it up. And make it funny, like that hilarious ABC Muppets reboot.
Unlikely to result in lawsuits. First they are being retained to do promotional appearances which suggests a deal was worked out. Second the show is going from 1 hour to 1/2 hour and all the live actor content is being cut way back and it is basically going to be a kids Muppets show (Elmo etc.) so that would fall under a general restructuring.
