We dropped off some items today and I saw lots of good outdoor furniture and some promising tables. I have to keep my husband away from the used books, he already has a huge pile on his bedside table!
Thanks to all the volunteers who make this amazing event possible. I have a few younger colleagues who set up their first apartments with finds at Morrow's Turnover Sale.
I'm a church member and a volunteer at the sale . I Among the treasures I saw: Some beautiful children's clothing came in yesterday, an entire box of vintage comic books was just put out. In better dresses there's a wedding dress, a mink stole and a 40's muskrat cape. In furniture there are some Mid century bentwood chairs, a knockout French provincial bedroom set, some very cool tables and some great stuff for collectors and for furnishing a first apartment. This year there is a collection of books signed by the authors, there are some fabulous art books and shelves of children's books. there is an entire boodkcase full of travel books. In sports there is fencing equipment and lots of golf clubs ( and much much more) . I bought a Panini grill that works wonderfully and saw some others there. In gifts there is some fabulous china, lots of crystal, lots of blue and white pottery , a wall full of great copper molds ( they are back "in"). There is a room overflowing with toys, a childs bed in the shape of a big fire truck ( I want that) , lots of outdoor furniture, many bicycles and soooooo much more. The sale today ( Saturday) runs from 9 AM to noon.
I am not sure there is a category not covered this year. Garden tools, lacrosse sticks, books galore, pocketbooks, jewelry, entire sets of dishes from antique to brand new, dressers, framed artwork, linens, toys like crazy, craft supplies, clothing for every family member -- you name it. Watched a woman on Saturday buy more than a dozen bras -- no one leaves unhappy, I think!!
It's almost that time of year again. I also recently found out that Prospect Presbyterian is NOT having their annual Rummage Sale this year. So if you want to donate stuff, Morrow is the place this summer!
Morrow Turnover Sale – donation guidelines
What we accept:
What we cannot accept:
I’ve enjoyed poking around the CDs and LPs at past sales, but they aren’t on either list. Safe to assume I can donate some music this year?
As long as it's not in questionable musical taste such as Tone Loc or Bizmarkie.
Seriously though I think the one thing they don't want is cassettes.
The general rule of thumb is "is it something that someone is likely to buy". A lot of the stuff in the "we don't accept" list is stuff that people just want to dump somewhere that's unlikely to get sold. Then it just becomes a disposal problem at the end of the sale.

Is there a way to arrange for pickup of a nice dining room set?
Possibly. Call the Church Office 973-763-7676. I believe Mary Beth Scherer is in charge of that.
Holy cow, have you been yet? What an incredible assortment of items! Just a quick list of "stuff" spotted this morning: cookbooks galore (all eras, all cuisines), vintage linens in great condition including fun colorful Mid Century tablecloths, a couture Moschino blazer, designer handbags that look like they've hardly been used, bikes of all sizes, sets of dishes for less than you'd pay per piece at a dollar store, an entire room full of toys and games, bags full of knitting yarn, decorations for any holiday you celebrate -- an overwhelming assortment. You gotta go. Next sale: Thursday 7-5 at 7 PM.
I've been bringing over boxes and today I went over today to get some books for my classroom. So much great stuff. I try not to look because I'm afraid of taking more stuff home than I donated. Really a great place to go to furnish a house or apartment.
If anyone is considering some of the larger pieces of furniture, but need help transporting home, my van (& trailer) is for hire. Send me a PM is interested.
