We still have a big pile on the street as well.
The plows did their best to avoid it during the last snowstorm.
According to Vic DeLuca, the trucks are still out there. They have not reached my street yet. During the last snow storm a huge pile of leaves and top soil was pushed up onto the driveway apron and the crosswalk cut out by the snow plows looking to avoid the two cars that were parked at the curb. Plows and/or flood water from melting snow then deposited a thick pile of leaves covering both storm drains. Result was a raging river at the curb last Friday morning. Conditions look like the same result likely during/immediately after the storm starting this afternoon.
Now that most of the weekend's snow has melted, what do we need to do to get the abandoned leaves picked up? We've emailed and called to no avail.
Any advice? Our very narrow street is essentially a one-way because a poorly parked car prevented the DPW from plowing up a neighbor's leaves.
My leaf pile on the street is still covered by snow. Not sure when it will get picked up.
I hope this week.
Leaf piles still here as well on my heavily trafficked street. Snow is not yet gone sufficiently for the pile to be removed.
The earlier round leaf pickups were very prompt so I was surprised that the final one was late, even before the first snowstorm, so it doesn't seem that the initial delay was due to weather (?)
Late dropping leaves + holidays + plus early snowfall + Montana and County construction all factored together seem to have resulted in missed leaf pick ups this year.

It snowed the weekend before the final week of the pickup schedule. They couldn't pick up because the leaves were covered in snow.
Seen on Facebook:
"Maplewood Twp. Dept. of Public Works Update: Leaf Pick-up was delayed by recent snowfalls, but DPW is making headway for the last rounds. As of today, Sections 1 and 2 are 100% completed. Section 3 will be finished this Friday (1/2) - and the final pickup for Sections 4, 5 & 6 will be completed by Friday, January 9."

Hopefully the snow melts next week. Otherwise they will be scooping a large amount of snow with my leaf pile.
The guys who pick up the leaves are also on snow removal detail so they are most likely not ignoring the issue. Snow on top of the leaves will assist the decomposition on the compost pile so that’s a win win. I expect the Xmas tree pick up to be impacted by the work as well.
My leaves in Section 2 remain buried under ice and snow. DPW did remove them. I doubt they even saw them. The leaves I saw in my walk through parts of Section 4 remain buried under large piles of ice/snow. I doubt they will be reachable until weather conditions improve.

My neighborhood was the week before the final week and I really don't know what prevented pickup that week. The weather was fine and there were no water line repairs near us.
Our leaf pile is finally free of snow. Now waiting to see when the Town collects them.
In the meantime, everyone has put out their Xmas trees for pick up.
If it’s been sitting there a full week, I’d assume that was it. I waited about the same last year thinking they’d swing back, but Maplewood DPW never did. Ended up bagging them so they wouldn’t just blow everywhere.

Contact DPW directly.

Probably won't help with all the leaves the snow plows pushed back over the curb or with all the leaves that blew back on the lawn while the leaf pile sat there waiting for collection.
In my section (2) there was more than ample time (and more time than was experienced for the earlier leaf pickups) to get it done before the first snowstorm we had and I'm still wondering why that didn't happen. It would have improved the situation greatly. Did DPW have some kind of issue with staff out sick or equipment breakdowns that prevented them from getting it done promptly?

Holidays may have had some impact. The town closed for two days for Thanksgiving which impacted leaf pick up for sections 1-3.

I don't think that should have had a big impact by December 8th which was the Monday of our final pickup week. And the holidays (unlike the weather) were known when the schedule was made, so should have been factored into plans if they would cause delays. Also, as I recall, the weather was good most or all of that week.
