House GOP Impeaching Biden

Talk amongst yourselves.

First reaction - it's ****.

Right? She hasn't even heard a case yet - I don't think she's even been formally seated. Oh, wait, we're not talking about Wisconsin, but about the other baseless impeachment. Seems like the GOP has a pattern here.

The White House Counsel sent out a memo to the media, saying the same thing but with more words. Its conclusion -

"House Republican leaders should be held accountable for the fact that they are lurching toward impeachment over allegations that are not only unfounded but, in virtually all cases, have been actively disproven – including by witnesses and documents in their own investigations, as well as years-old congressional probes and even the former President’s first impeachment inquiry.

"As you begin to cover the House GOP’s impeachment push more intensely, enclosed you will find a 14-page appendix that comprehensively addresses the 7 key lies House Republicans are suggesting they are basing an impeachment on. We hope this document helps provide you with factual information useful in your reporting on their unprecedented, unfounded claims underlying an impeachment inquiry without any evidence of wrongdoing."

Mainly I'm surprised they waited this long. I wonder why they're stopping at Biden? Why not also impeach every member of his cabinet, and maybe pre-emptively impeach all future Democratic presidents too?

There is no impeachment, there is an impeachment inquiry. So the thread title is inaccurate.

The House GOP "impeachment inquiry" is déjà vu all over again.

"The Republican claims may sound familiar, as they are a rehash of the Ukrainian disinformation campaign spun up by Rudy Giuliani and his allies and parroted incessantly by Hannity, John Solomon, and other Fox propagandists as they sought to kneecap Biden’s presidential campaign back in 2019. Trump regurgitated their conspiracy theories when he tried to condition military aid to Ukraine on Ukraine’s government announcing a probe of Biden. Public disclosure of that corrupt abuse of power triggered a House impeachment inquiry and ultimately Trump’s first impeachment.

But the underlying allegation that Joe Biden demanded Shokin’s firing to help his son’s business dealings never made sense and was thoroughly dismantled during Trump’s impeachment inquiry, as U.S. officials testified that Shokin had been widely faulted by Western governments for failing to prosecute corruption, they were unaware of Shokin reviving a probe into Burisma (it was reportedly moribund at the time), and Biden’s actions were consistent with U.S. policy."

The testimonies are summarized at the link -

The core of the GOP’s Biden impeachment inquiry was already debunked by the Trump impeachment inquiry

The title describes the process the GOP has initiated.  But bless your heart for your concern.

If we take this as a forecast, I think you're probably right. I don't think there are enough votes.

Even Fox News is accurate and showing news judgment this morning.

Key GOP senator throws cold water on Biden impeachment inquiry

nope.

could have started this thread a month ago with same title and it would still be accurate.

(drift?)

Speaking of media, i was delighted to hear this morning that some institutional investors are planning to sue Fox for exposing itself (and them) to cost of liability (see: Dominion suit) by lying extensively on behalf of tfg. grin

No evidence of any wrongdoing by Biden… and their so called “witness” is on the lamb…but they’re smelling smoke, so there must be a fire somewhere right? I think the smoke they’re smelling is the Republican Party In its early stages of spontaneous combustion. Hopefully this is the end of these idiots.

Please don't try to derail this thread with more "Deep State" nonsense. As Jack Nicholson's famous movie line has it, "Go sell crazy someplace else".

As for Mark Ames' whole theory that the "Deep State" and CIA and the like are trying to get rid of Biden ("Ignatius is long known as Langley’s mouthpiece so this is more like an official declaration than mere opinion") - The Ignatius column (and his subsequent comments) make it seem more like an anti-Kamala Harris piece (urging Biden to replace her with someone the author thinks would be better). So is the "Deep State" anti-Kamala Harris specifically, or just women of color?

And Kamala is Black.

Ease up on Paul.

He's just setting the stage so that he can say "I told you so" if Biden loses next year.

Before we get to the election, there's the impeachment. Based on past performance, Paul will be supporting the GOP's arguments.

During Trump's first impeachment, Paul adopted the GOP's lie that Biden had Ukrainian prosecutor Shokin fired in order to protect Hunter Biden's company. "A major investigation, will give the Republican committee members a platform to pursue Joe Biden's extortion of the President of Ukraine to fire his AG at a time when there was an open investigation of Hunter Biden's company"

That's one of the "big lies" that are part of the GOP's latest impeachment farce -

"We're just asking questions.  All Biden has to say is whether or not he has stopped beating his wife."

Have Republicans thought this through? I guess they want Kamala to be POTUS.

The GOP would not start an impeachment process unless they intended to impeach POTUS.

An "own goal" by Fox News talker Brian Kilmeade.

He brings on former Ukrainian President Poroshenko to talk about the prosecutor, Shokin, who was fired when Joe Biden communicated that he had to go.

The GOP has resurrected the Trump story that Biden really demanded the firing because Shokin was going after Burisma, the company paying Hunter Biden.

Poroshenko says, no, Shokin actually was that bad.  Sad face from Brian Kilmeade.

Hahahaha..

Kilmeade ended the interview quickly after Poroshenko said Shokin was a crazy person.
