Dining platforms in the Village

They look great.  But, do they eat up too many parking spots?  I thought the need for them previously was due to covid.

I think it makes the village more attractive and lively; most people should be able to park elsewhere and walk a couple of blocks.

The township promised that the new streeteries would be accessible to those with mobility challenges.  These are not.  I spoke with a TC member who said that DPW would be able to make them accessible for next year.  Hoping that is the case.

They are more attractive than the original ones.

As a mobility challenged 75 y/o I think it's time for them to go.   I would like to park closer to my destination.

I’d rather see more designated blue parking spots on Maplewood Ave (and the platforms made accessible, as promised)

Need I mention traffic congestion in the village?

Next it may be possible for any business to do business in the street.  Nail salons anyone?

many of the branch covidians still can’t bring themselves stop wearing face rags or to eat inside.  It’s a psychosis.

Just curious Mr. Gumble. Do you ever show empathy to any facet/person/situation in your life? I sure hope so.

It’s a choice.

Disordered thinking is a psychosis.

I just got back from a place where sections of some streets were pedestrian malls with lots of dining opportunities.  It was rather civilized.

If I were just tested + for the Rona, I would wear a mask in public.

With my untreatable hearing loss, eating inside is no longer fun for me. It is like hearing music through a broken speaker. But that is just me.

However, I enjoy eating outside on our patio or at restaurants, when available.

Looks like these things are staying. Maybe it’s the township planning to turn that section of maplewood avenue into a pedestrian mall with lots of dining opportunities… kinda like in my favorite country. Portugal. Pave the street and sidewalk with mosaic tiles too! It’s beautiful.

Maplewood Avenue between Baker and Inwood should be close to traffic completely, imho.

The dining platforms are seasonal.  I think the months are approximately April to October. Restaurants must apply for approval.

A one off experience but I did take out last night at about 7:20 and there were spots on the side streets.  Didn't seem like this was creating a parking nightmare.

when outright mental illness dictates public policy, the boundaries of empathy are breached.

To eliminate the masking you were mocking, public policy would need to forbid the voluntary option. Let’s all take a moment to appreciate sanity.

Where did everybody park???

Many of us love the opportunity for outdoor dining, regardless of COVID status. I don't think that's the real driving force anymore. Feel free to discuss whether the current implementation is appropriate but please don't assume that it is some fringe group of hypochondriacs that this needs to be done for.
