Subaru service

Where do Subaru folks get their cars serviced??

On Route 22 in Union. (908) 686-6160

We take ours to Subaru of Morristown.  No better or worse than your average dealership. We had a very bad experience with Lynnes in Bloomfield.  They broke our AC while repairing the airbags and then tried to pretend that it wasn't their fault.  They fixed it in the end but it was a huge hassle.

I generally use Maplewood Tire for routine service and minor repairs.  If I need a dealer, I use Liberty in Emerson.  https://www.libertysubaru.com/

I should have noted I take my Forester to Nelson's for the routine stuff.

I had a terrible experience with Open Road on Rt 22 in Union.

I’ve used Maplewood Meineke for routine oil changes but will go to Morristown or Liberty for anything bigger/warranty related.

I take my 2007 Subaru Impreza to Definis Auto (Frank) on Milburn Ave, Maplewood.  I sometimes go to the Subaru dealer in Morristown because I get free oil changes for life (now limited to 2X a year--which makes me mad) and they always find stuff wrong and sometimes I get it fixed there--not the cheapest.  They have a nice waiting room and the staff is super friendly, but I'd rather go to DeFinis.

My 2010 Outback (bought on a "Free Tires For Life" promo) has been pampered by the Lynnes service crew (Bloomfield Ave., Bloomfield) through 135K+ miles and several changes in Svc Mgrs & Writers, waiting room layout, etc...

Latest Svc: I pulled in last Thursday, fifteen minutes early for a scheduled oil change, prepared to wait a while. I did wait, and 2 hrs later, my car was returned to me: oil & fluids checked & changed, tires rotated (for FREE!), &, as usual, washed. The place is busy for a reason, and that reason isn't that Subies aren't built to last...

-s.

I found Morristown to be dishonest.  We had an accident many years ago with our Subaru and they recommended a body shop to us.  First, the body shop took forever to do the work and it turns out it was owned by the same people that owned the dealership.  This was never disclosed to us.

When I had a Forester I liked the service people at Paul Miller Subaru in Parsippany.  They did usually find something else they said should be fixed, but weren't pushy about it if I said no, and most dealerships do that anyway.

Thanks all.  We've mostly used Morristown, but they changed managers in the service dept  a couple of years ago and it doesn't seem the same to me.

Liberty's a bit of a hike, no?  Are waits reasonable?

And I've been meaning to try Definis for the basics.

Agree that there's something off about the Morristown dealership.  Went there a couple of months ago just to try them and didn't like them.  I got the feeling that they didn't do the work they promised.  Had much better experience with the Union location and will stay with them.  Alternatively, Bernie's is good.

Any non warranty work: Nelson's.

Warranty work: Liberty. yes, 45 min hike, but waiting room is fine, wifi and coffee, and there's restaurants in a walkable distance. I like that they never try to upsell me or find anything that needed to be 'fixed'.

Morristown and Union/22 - I always felt like I needed a shower after visiting them.

^^ this has been my experience as well.  Also had a good buying experience there.

I should elaborate on how bad my open road (Union, Rt 22) experience was.

My tire light came on and as I purchased the extended warranty to include tires, I went there for scheduled maintenance. I noted the tire light and asked them to check the tires, along with rotate etc. I explained I had a six hour road trip that weekend.

After several hours !!! My car was ready. I left and my light came back on quickly. I ended up having to go back twice. They never rotated the tires. The only thing they did was put air in my tires. I drove back and forth to Virginia Beach having to stop to put air in the tires every few hours.

I called again and finally the service manager actually checked the tire which he repaired himself, he was mortified and apologized and understood why I’d never go back.

The service techs obviously aren’t trustworthy.

DeFinis left my daughters outback wheels loose. They also apologized after she realized something was wrong and my husband brought the car back, but how negligent is that???
