Predictable. Omicron is becoming the dominant strain in our region. This is much more contagious than the Delta strain which had been prevalent in our area. Travel over school break and gatherings over Thanksgiving helped contribute to community spread here.
Well, with this new variant, coupled with Christmas travel (Vaccinated OR NOT) things will only get worse and its time Maplewood South Orange school district take the blinders off and jump into reality. Maplewood Middle has a couple of cases as well, and depending on the outcome of those few kids, an outbreak is imminent
A lot of students are getting sick. Seems like the sensible choice.
School policy needs to be updated. Kids that are vaccinated and have been exposed to a known case of COVID should be allowed excused absences until they are in the clear. Right now a vaccinated kid has to go to school or stay home unexcused if they are exposed to a known case of COVID.
With the number of COVID alerts we've gotten from the high school, I'm surprised they are not fully virtual also.

We just got the notification. Starting tomorrow SOMS will be virtual for the remainder of the week. There's been a big uptick in COVID cases, but apparently not due to in-school transmission.
At this time, in-person instruction will re-commence on January 4th.
