Both of those links send me to Facebook. Any way to vote without going to Facebook?
Thanks everybody! As of right now we are number 6 out of 200 causes. The top 40 at midnight on June 3rd will win $25,000, so now we just have to keep up the voting every day.

Unfortunately the only way to vote is through Facebook. State farm says that they only do this to ensure that votes are from actual people who are only voting 10 times per day, and that they do not do anything with your Facebook info or post to your page.
We've slipped down to number 8 (out of 200). Please remember to vote EVERY DAY until June 3rd, and ask your friends to do the same. The top 40 Causes will each win the grant, but we need to stay up there!
First thing I did this morning after booting up the computer.
Come on people. VOTE!!

10 votes a day!
You can check the box for "10 votes" and not have to vote over and over each day. But vote EACH DAY please!!
Thanks @LL_ ! We've been bumped down to 11th place so we really need everyone's help every day.
Vote here:

I just did mine for the day. Come on folks, we have slipped to 12.
Worse... we've slipped to 15! The top 40 will each get a $25,000 grant but we can not afford to slip that far because June 3rd is a long way away.
Please tell everyone you know to vote every day and share this link. It only takes 10 seconds (at the most) and you can use your daily allotment of 10 votes per day all at once:
http://tinyurl.com/SORS2015
can you change title to spell out full name of SORS? Few know the initials.
You could also post the information (with a new title) in the Maplewood Only section since the SORS also helps out in Maplewood.
Better yet, start a companion thread in Please Help or Virtual Cafe. Spell out the full name of the benefiting organization in the thread title and you stand to gain greater readership which results in broader support from the entire MOL population. There are persons in neighboring and not so neighboring communities who appreciate the benefit of a strong, active volunteer rescue squad being there and would certainly do what they can to help.
Additional publicity ideas to increase vote totals - posted here just in case you haven't thought of all of them:
Cross posting on Maplewood/South Orange specific Facebook pages (ask for members help on the new thread to identify these pages and to help by posting to them if there is a member only requirement) could attract additional concerned current and former residents who would support the cause. Added incentive is that these potential voters are all on Facebook already and thus immediately voter eligible.
If this plea has not been given to all or our hyper-local and regional media, a quick press release could result in a still wider range of potential voters.
Ask for support from local clubs/organizations in the immediate area, especially service organizations and organizations with regional, national, or international membership.
Get the HS and college students who work with the Rescue Squad to get the word out at their own school and encourage students/teachers/administrators/parents, etc. to get out the vote.
See if the Maplewood and South Orange municipalities will send out an e-mail blast to their subscribers advising of the opportunity to help the rescue squad.
Maplewood First Aid Squad will be at Mayfest this coming Sunday (day before Memorial Day) ask if they will either spread the word for you or allow a Rescue Squad member to be at their location telling passersby about the grant and the need for public support.
Good luck!
Thanks Joan, good advice as always!
As a reminder to folks here... please vote every day through June 3rd! It only takes about 5 seconds and you can use all of your 10 daily votes at once:
Promote your business here - Businesses get highlighted throughout the site and you can add a deal.
The South Orange Rescue Squad is one of 200 causes selected (out of 4,000 applicants) to the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program.
Of the top 200, the 40 which get the most votes via facebook will each receive a $25,000 grant.
SO WE NEED YOUR HELP, MOL COMMUNITY! Please vote via the State Farm Facebook page located here: https://www.state-assist.com/cause/1500225/south-orange-rescue-squad

Members of the public are encouraged to vote up to 10 times per day, every day until the contest ends on June 3rd. (You can use all of your 10 votes at once by checking a box, but you still need to vote every day).
The only way for us to win this is for people to get a bit obsessed with helping us win-- and that is where I'm hoping to count on the MOL community. PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW, ENCOURAGE IT TO BE SPREAD ON SOCIAL MEDIA, AND VOTE EVERY DAY.
As many of you know, the volunteer members of the South Orange Rescue Squad were forced to leave our headquarters of 43 years because it was torn down to make room for the 3rd and Valley development. The developer contributed funds towards the construction of a new building, but it is not enough to fully complete the project. This grant would help us complete the rebuilding and fund the construction of our training room, which is used to train not only members of the Rescue Squad, but also members of the general public in first aid and CPR.
Again, everyone is urged to vote every day up to 10 times by clicking here: https://www.state-assist.com/cause/1500225/south-orange-rescue-squad

Social media voting is critical to the selection process, so please help spread the word through facebook and twitter and pass this info on to all of your friends and family. WE NEED PEOPLE TO VOTE EVERY DAY UNTIL JUNE 3RD.
We are confident that with community support we can reach this amazing goal, complete the rebuilding of our headquarters and be able to better serve the community as we have since 1952.

For those who don't know us, we are an independent 501(c)(3) EMS organization that provides free 911 emergency medical care to the residents of South Orange and Maplewood and the surrounding communities, including Seton Hall University. The Rescue Squad is staffed by volunteers and funded solely by contributions from the community which are 100% deductible under IRS regulations-- we are not funded by taxpayer dollars.
We also have a cadet program, which teaches Columbia High School students about becoming EMTs and trains them to save lives. We teach First Aid and CPR to members of the community, provide free EMS standby coverage at public events, and visit schools, camps and day cares to teach children about safety, First Aid and Emergency Medical Services.
For the past 64 years we have consistently served our community at all hours of the day and night with immediate 911 response and free medical treatment and transportation. We've delivered at least 20 babies, saved hundreds of lives per year and been there when the community needed us-- all without using taxpayer funds or ever charging a fee for our services. We save our residents approximately $1,040,000 per year in medical fees charged by for-profit EMS agencies by continuing our mission of never charging for ambulance transportation and treatment.
