I just got this from the Special Education parent's group email list:

The SOM School District has announced the registration information for the new Montrose Early Childhood Center (MECC). Find registration specifics below.

The Montrose Early Childhood Center (MECC)
356 Clark Street, South Orange

Registration: 525 Academy Street, Maplewood—3rd Floor
Wed. & Th. January 21 & 22, 2015 9:00-2:00
Wed. & Th.. January 28 & 29, 2015 9:00-2:00

Full day: 9:00-3:00 for 3 and 4 year olds (by Oct. 1, 2015)
Half day 9-11:30 or 12:30-3:00 for 3 and 4 year olds
• Follows the school year calendar (September –June)
• Before and After school care available

Financial Assistance is available based on need.
* Limited seats may require a lottery

So we have created a private pre-school? is it just special ed/needs? and assuming it's in the Montrose bldg?

Since it came from the Special Ed parents list, I'm assuming that it is a special needs/inclusion preschool - perhaps similar to the Elli program they had a few years ago ??

There has been absolutely no communication from the school district to residents of the neighborhood surrounding the school, regarding the potential impact of the school's opening on the neighborhood -- increased traffic, on-street parking, buses, etc., etc...
