Small Quiet Not Expensive Restaurant Close By?

Looking for small quiet place for dinner tomorrow night close by ..nothing fancy or expensive.

Tks,

Tabby

What  do you consider expensive?

Don't want a diner (not exactly small and quiet....) don't want Verjus either (yes its fantastic but out of budget this year).

I'm not sure what your price point is, but a toute heure in Cranford has a $45 three course meal. It's BYOB.

Giorgio's in South Orange is usually fairly quiet or Enzzo's in Millburn.  Volume level depends on the crowd.

I know, Tabby -- HARU!!!

 What are their hours?

I'll second Giorgio's. Usually quiet. The food is good and you don't have to spend a whole lot, although you can if you want.

A lot of people here, i think, are fans of Picante in Springfield.   Quiet, inexpensive but very nicely prepared, not standard Mexican food.

5 to 10, closed on Mondays. It's a small space so may be hard to get in tomorrow.

If you're into trying different types of cuisine, Walia in S.O. (Village Plaza) has excellent Ethiopian food. Woulibam on Springfield Av. in Mplwd is Caribbean and Haitian. Haven't been to latter but have read good reviews.

Cactus Charley on Highland Maplewood Village..............can't guarantee quiet but tasty offerings at reasonable prices

Same for St. James Gate Pub on Maplewood Ave. in the village.

While I like Cactus Charlie, the last thing it is, is quiet. Especially if there is even one toddler on premises.

Sound bounces off the hard walls and tables.

Cactus Charlie's is maybe slightly above average American-style Mexican fare, plus screaming kids.   Don't get the attraction.

I met up with friends at Bayleaf in South Orange a couple of Fridays ago. It was quiet, intimate, the food was amazing and cheap and you could BYOB.

Love Walia in S. Orange.  Giorgio's is a good option.

Also Gregorios in Chatham.  Good food, and usually not noisy.

Gian Marco in millburn is nice. Pizza place in front but nice dining room in back. Quiet and attentive service. Portions are large, too so you can share or bring home for the next day.

 Wonderful suggestion.

Porto Falafel is quiet on nights they don't have music

Friday night is Bistro Night, with a $45 prix fixe menu... Too much? -s.

Peter's in MIlburn.  Right near Rocking Joes.

Ennzo's in Millburn is reasonably priced and pretty quiet.  Food is excellent.  It's BYOB BTW.

Girogio's in South Orange: BYOB

Very intimate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
