Thank you Mellowmood! We love being able to offer this class to the community. We also offer various types of Baby & Me Yoga classes throughout the week. The grownups have been known to get together at HLS after class to compare notes. grin It's such a sweet community.

Since we're talking about pre and post natal, be sure to check out Debra Bernath, a practitioner at Shakti Yoga, who offers pre-peri and post natal massage as well as fertility focused Reflexology and Thai Abdominal massage, among many other massage therapies: http://www.shaktinj.com/practitioners.htm#DeborahBernath.

Also, be sure to check out these upcoming workshops: Childbirth Preparation: Deep Relaxation with Ires Wilbanks on Saturday, April 12, 2-4pm and Labor & Delivery Workshop with Ires Wilbanks on Saturday, May 10, 2-5:30pm. This link has more details: http://www.shaktinj.com/shaktima.htm.

Shakti Yoga is happy to announce a New Student Special! 20% off of your first 5, 10 or 20 class card
OR 25% off Yoga 101 FUNdamentals! AND your first class card: http://www.shaktinj.com.

I know it wouldn't meet the same objectives, but I would love if Shakti would consider sometimes offering specials for "old" students too!! I love yoga and the classes there but I just can't afford to go as often as I'd like. I get excited when I see new deals (like on Amazon Local now) but they're always for new students. I totally get that the goal is to bring new folks in, but maybe returning students could increase their frequency with the occasional deal.

TarheelsInNJ, thank you for your feedback. We always look for ways to show our students how much we appreciate them. We have offered discounts for current students in the past, but you are right, it has been a while. We do have a discount 10 class card available for $120 for anyone in need. We also offer a donation based community class every Sunday evening at 7pm. Current students can also participate in our Facebook challenge to win a 5 class card. You don't need to take a class; you get points for Liking our posts and sharing events on FB.

Please know that we have heard you and are looking at different ways to say Thank You to our students. We are thinking of different challenges and discounts for all our students. In the meantime, we hope to see you back at the studio. Also, please tell your friends about Shakti Yoga and help us spread the word about our studio. Thank you so much! Namaste.

Are you considering offering yoga classes for folks with arthiritis (and/or fibromyalgia)? I recently saw a show on PBS about it and I think I might be able to do most of the poses.

Mumstheword, yoga can definitely help with those ailments. While we don't offer specific classes towards them, we do have a few options that would work well:

Yoga 101: FUNdamentals!
with Anita Beechner or Susan Pendleton

NEW Dates: 6 Thursdays, 11:15-12:30pm, May 15 - June 19 with Anita
or 5 Tuesdays, 7:45-9pm, May 27 - June 24 with Susan
Cost: $90 for 6-weeks or $75 for 5-weeks ~ drop-ins welcome $18
Register: call 973-763-2288 or pay online
You can still join the series at a prorated price in the 2nd week.

Begin the practice you've always wanted or commit to deepening your existing practice.

Great for BRAND NEW BEGINNERS and practitioners looking to firm the foundation of their practice. In each session, we'll stretch, strengthen and move, applying a weekly foundational theme.

Other options include Gentle Hatha with Shehnaz on Mondays @ 4:45pm, Gentle Yoga with Karen on Weds @ 12:45 and Restorative Yoga with Evelyn on Thurs @ 7:45pm.

Please refer to our schedule: http://dharmatribeonline.com/shakti/index.php?tab=week&offset=0.

Mumstheword, please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. We hope to see you on the mat. Namaste.

Thanks for this -- it's very interesting. I think the "Yoga for the Inflexible" would be the one for me to try out first, but I don't see it on your schedule. Will you be scheduling evening classes in the future that I can audit?

mums you HAVE to try the restorative yoga. It is AMAZING.

Would you consider adding any Vinyasa classes to evenings or weekends? It seems that they are all during the day in the work week, which is not feasible for people who work regular 9-5 jobs. Thanks!

@boomie -- Thanks for your suggestion. I looked at that but I was wondering if it might be too strenuous (seriously, every inch of my body hurts from the fibromyalgia). HOWEVER, browsing the website, I found all the other things available at Shakti -- including Debra Bernath who does SHIATSU ON THE FLOOR (I haven't been able to find anyone do that in at least 25 years). She does a lot of other healing work -- which I think I will need first -- so I've already sent her an e-mail to see what I can do with her. There are no accidents in the Universe! ;-)

It is NOT strenuous at all. It's the most relaxing, pampering 1.5 hours you can ever imagine.

OK, based on your recommendation, I'll audit a class and see how it goes. I am in sore (literally) need of relaxing and pampering. Thanks!

@boomie -- have you tried the Nia classes? Those sound interesting too (barefoot -- that's my style).

Restorative Yoga is incredible! I'm glad you are going to try that class. Debra Bernath is incredible. You will love her.
