would appreciate your thoughts on services provided here in Maplewood.
i have always received such good feedback from all you guys on here.
thank you in advance for any words of condolences, because i've seen how caring everyone can be

Hello, so sorry for what you are going through. We have used Jacob Holle in South Orange and Maplewood. Ask for Jackie or Clark , they are very kind. Peace to you.

So sorry for your loss.

I'm not familiar with Maplewood specifically, but friends have had good experiences with Ippolito Family who has several branches.

I'm sorry you are having to ask about this topic, jobie. I'm sure it it a sad time for you, and you have my sympathy.

To answer your question, my mother passed away in April and I called the Holle Funeral Home, in Maplewood (on Millburn Avenue, just a block up from Valley St). They took care of everything in a very sympathetic and professional manner. They made a difficult time bearable and I would recommend them without reservation. Their phone number/address info is: 2122 Millburn Ave Maplewood, NJ 07040
(973) 762-2200

Wishing you peace and comfort.

Have no personal recommendation but am so sorry for your loss...

so very sorry for your loss.

Jobie, so very sorry for your loss.

Clark at the Holle funeral home is kind , compassionate and totally professional. They handled the arrangements when my mother died and I would recommend them without hesitation.

You mentioned that you are new to the area. Do you have any support systems here. Do you need anything. Is there any way we can help.

Yes, please let us know if you need anything. My condolences.

Practically every Maplewood funeral I've ever known about was arranged by the Holle Funeral Home. I believe that they also own/manage the Preston Funeral Home in South Orange.

My condolences to you and your family and friends.

Do let us know how we can help.

So very sorry. Please do not hesitate to ask for anything you need from us as a community. Peace.

Deepest sympathy to you and your family. Please do let us know if you need any type of help.....food, child care etc. I am sure we could all pitch in and help out.
Sincerely,
Barbara Savino

So sorry for your loss. I hope that you do reach out if there is anyway we can be of assistance. I also recommend Holle. Kind, caring and compassionate (as well as honest and ethical when it comes to cost).

So sorry jobie! When my husband passed away last July, I didn't know what to do. I literally said out loud, what do I do now? So I looked it up. Holle has a great website with a page, "When someone dies."

Even if you don't use them, take a look at their website. I found them very compassionate.

Sorry for your loss. Do come back and talk with us. We are your new extended family. We're pretty good folks even if the best or majority of us are a bit crazy. Yes, we're that branch...

Me too.

Although I don't have any experience, one thing that I have heard over and over again is that you don't actually need to buy anything from the funeral home -- funeral cards, caskets, flowers, what ever. Everyone has one relative that is a b*tch on wheels -- the person that can bargain for everything, say rude things to people's faces, and say no when it's needed. That is the person who you should bring to the funeral home with you. Unscrupulous funeral directors will try to play to your grief, and you need to have a hard liner can ask the difficult-to-ask questions. Is that service really needed? I plan on buying the casket from Costco -- I know you must accept it and use it. What is this charge for? Etc. etc.

You can then leave and discuss your options before you sign anything.

And yes, I've heard excellent things about the caskets from Costco.

Best of luck and I'm terribly sorry that your are in this position.

Jobie,
You will find a lot of help and support here on MOL.
Please reach out to this community with any help that you may need and we will rally to your needs.
Your original post didn't actually mention a death. If you are dealing with a loved one that is close to passing, please know that we are here to help in anyway possible.
Only hoping for strength, peace and wisdom for you,
Laura
