Toilet is running every few minutes....what needs adjustment in the tank?

You better hurry up and catch it!

the flapper between the tank and the bowl.  Wipe it off and make sure it is sealing.  

that's a Kohler class 5 flush valve go to HD and buy the yellow seal for it about 3" in diameter and follow directions on the package

Loews / Home Depot has a kit you can buy with a new flapper(the rubber degrades over time) and plastic ring to go on the flapper seat (you can try to clean the existing one, but I found it easier to put on the new one).

I think the plumber has better advice than the non plumbers. The contraption does not look like a typical flapper. I guess that is why it is called a flush valve.

ARGH, a picture is only worth more than 1000 words if you look at the picture, which I didn't.  Go with the plumber.
