Rumor: Fox & Falcon is closing

I was only there a few times, felt it was a bit overpriced.  It's been a tough location since the Stuft Shirt left.

I’m sorry if they’re closing. It’s hopefully just a rumor. We are not patrons of the place but I hate to see any local business close.

Not a rumor. Closing this month.

My friend believes the location is cursed since so many things have come and gone there over the years.

Does anyone remember when they opened?

We went a couple of times early on. It didn’t click for us but it seemed to be busy enough.

I have to imagine the new place in the old Town Hall building took some of their business. Plus alcohol consumption has been falling in America in the last several years.

MOL helped me answer my own question. The first postings from people actually going to F&F were December 2018. I thought maybe it was more like ten years but anything that happened pre-COVID all seems to be lumped into one vague time period in my head.

It was Fox & Falcon and then it was Fox & Falcon by David Burke. I loved the food at Orange Lawn Club, but didn't like the food here and it was overpriced. There are very good restaurants in the two towns and if they're going to charge similar prices they better have the service and food to match. My kids will miss the clothesline bacon.

F&F pre-DB was the apex of this place since it renovated and reopened 12 ish years ago -- they almost had it right but then the scandal with the co-owner blew it up.

Ricalton's, South Mountain tavern, FF DB were all various levels of suckery.

A group I am part of had given them a deposit for an event, which they returned to us yesterday. I mention this for two reasons: First, it seems to corroborate their closing. Second, I was impressed by how quickly and professionally they handled our inquiry.

I was never really crazy about the place. Service always seemed to be wonky, and it was a little pricey.

I am curious about the what's next.

What's next? Doc-in-the-box walk in clinic or maybe a nail salo -- wait. I got it. Dollar Store.

The first thing that comes to mind is that this puts another million dollar liquor license back in play.

The space could be divided up, peeling off three areas. There’s the back room, this little side bar, and the snug downstairs. I think it would still have space for a reasonably sized restaurant that could make use of the liquor license. I guess the question any entrepreneur would want to answer is what does the Community actually need?

I know the standing joke about nail salons, but when is the last time a new nail salon actually went into either South Orange or Maplewood?

Soul, if I tell you something, you shouldn't need corroboration
