Roofer recommendation?

Getting a quote from Global Home Improvement. Looking for others.

Ticos recently did a nice job on our garage roof.

Hi,

Rob at RBM Roofing is great.  Did our roof last week.  The guy finished it in 1 day; I didn't think that could be done.  Excellent price, very organized & careful, cleaned up great.  Give him a call: 973-895-5418

Try Don Smith at High Grade (973) 538-7466.

I have had Don do two residential roofs for me in the last four years (plus one residing of a house).  He is not always the lowest price, nor the highest, but the work is impeccable.  What I like about Don is that he bids the job and then does not nickle and dime you with change orders.  If something comes up and it is not a significant issue he tells you and then does the extra work at no cost.  He also stands behind the work 100%.  On one job we felt part of the siding was not to our liking and he was back to fix it the next day with no questions asked.  His crews are professional and neat.

Second for Scott's.

did you get the quote from global? They did a great job on our standing seam metal roof and I'd get another estimate from them for roof/gutters etc if we move,

@shh yes I think we will go with Global.  They made and installed our gutters, and their warranty would be voided with another roofer. I'd rather they handle it again.  do love that roof of yours!

@shanabana Was their quote comparable? The only thing I disliked about them was their drawn out quote process, but in the end we were pleased. I would definitely get other quotes so I knew a range to see if they were competitive.

Very happy with Tico's on a very large job (including price).

@shh, The pitch is too long, but we cut out the whole metal roof part.  TICO's only uses the Timberline type tile, which we don't want.  Not too terrible price (a few thousand over TICO's) considering what we need, and higher end tile; we don't have ridge venting and have a couple of yankee gutters that need attention.  The warranty is also transferable with Duration tile.

I'm not familiar with that type of roofing. I'll have to look it up.

It's an Owens Corning tile.  https://www.owenscorning.com/r... It has double the seal points, is way thicker, etc.  The "lifetime" guarantee of the Timberline is for the lifetime of the tile (Doh!).  Not a great product.  The duration though don't really look more spectacular, but the warranty that transfers to the next owner is the key point for us. Global is really good with workmanship also.  They'll take three days where others will take one.  I'm fine with that.

But then again, I ALSO feel like maybe I'm a sucker and I should just get the cheaper tile, lol.

I think you are talking about architectural shingles, not tile, right?

I have nothing to say but I think if I comment, this will be easier for me to retrieve.

About to post a question regarding my furnace issue and thought I'd pay forward some karma first - we are very please with our roofer, Mike Harris. Nice guy, responsive and seems thorough. We recommended him to new neighbors when they asked if we knew a roofer and they were very pleased as well and even sent a thank you note to me for the referral.

(Now, if anyone knows HVAC and/or gas furnaces, particularly with regard to an issue with a Heat Exchanger seal, please see the thread I'm about to start!
