Proximity to Lightning Brook was a primary reason why supporters wanted the new police station to be on Springfield Avenue near the Irvington border.  However, the police department pointed out correctly that our police officers were out on patrol not waiting in the police station to receive calls.  Therefore, the police station could effectively be located anywhere.
