If you have your own domain it'd be something like "mol@mydomain.com, nyt@mydomain.com", etc, but you can also do a lightweight version of that with gmail, eg "username+mol@gmail.com, username+nyt@gmail.com", etc.
That makes it easier to see how your email is being sold and traded -- eg if you signed up with "username+appress@gmail.com", and started getting emails to that address from "worstpresidentever@afloridaswamp.hell", you know that the Asbury Park Press sold your address. And if it gets annoying enough, you can just add a filter to block all emails to "username+appress@gmail.com," thereby cutting off that entire chain of senders.

That is what I do. I have my own domain. I can add and delete email addresses at will. Most domain are usually $12 a year. I use Google to host my Domain.
Its also useful for separating your financial emails. My credit cards, broker and bank have a separate email address. So far, I've found they haven't "sold" it. If I get an email from my financial institution which is not addressed to my financial address I know its a spoof. I have another address for retailers that I'm pretty sure won't sell me, like Target and Amazon. When I set up a new retailer I use a temporary address. When I'm sure the new retailer hasn't sold me (by not getting spam on that address) then I update the retailer to my regular retail address. I have separate addresses for family and friends.
If you don't have a domain you can use Simple Login to generate alias addresses.
If you go the domain route then you should use an email provider that respects your privacy such as ProtonMail or Fastmail. What you do is get a Fastmail or Proton account and then link your domain to the account. An advantage is if you email provider goes under, then you get a new provider and relink the domain to that provider. This way you get to keep your email addresses.
I host my Domain on Google but they can't look at my email. Its your email provider that determines your email privacy and security. Google's domain hosting serves to reserve the domain to you and to set up the internet routing so that emails addressed to your domain are routed to your email provider who then puts it into your inbox.

He is in U.S. custody and is set for an initial appearance hearing this afternoon before a federal magistrate judge.
According to an FBI affidavit, Bies issued a variety of threats on Gab after agents searched Trump's Mar-a-Lago complex for evidence of stolen classified documents.
He compared the FBI to the Nazi SS and the Soviet-era KGB and said everyone at the FBI, from agents to janitors, should be killed.
"My only goal is to kill more of them before I drop," he wrote on Thursday. "I will not spend one second of my life in their custody."
