I guess he thinks all those are bad things? Maybe he's never been on an electric scooter. They're a lot of fun. But sometimes I think that's a defining characteristic of the right. They hate on a lot of things that are really fun.
H.L. Mencken's classic definition of "Puritanism": "The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy."
they hate the theater, TV, movies, music that isn't sufficiently "patriotic", trains, walking, vegetables, good coffee, wine, beer that isn't Bud or Coors, NFL players, NBA players. It's quite a list of what many people would consider the best of our country.
If I had to live in their world, I'd die of boredom.
and I'll add a good example I saw on FB this week. A local right winger posted a complaint about yesterday's parade in Jersey City for the St. Peter's basketball team. He called it a "participation trophy" for a team that didn't win a championship. IMHO, if the St. Peter's tournament run didn't give a person at least a little bit of joy these past couple of weeks, I feel sorry for them. It was a bunch of local guys accomplishing one of the greatest feats in NCAA sports history. What is wrong with a person who **** on such an accomplishment, that inspired so many people?
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey refused to acknowledge the existence of trans people — a day after signing into law two pieces of legislation targeting trans youth.https://t.co/TuAieO8ZvZ

Maybe the right-wing is anti-underdog in any context, as changes to any expected pecking order might be experienced as confusing or threatening?
Apparently Gov. Ducey didn't follow the example of Queen Victoria who after agreeing to a law outlawing homosexuality refused to agree to a law outlawing Lesbianism because she said that there was no such thing.
Four days after joining the New Hampshire Republican primary, U.S. Senate hopeful and bitcoin millionaire Bruce Fenton compared the widespread adoration of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the reaction to Osama bin Laden, warning that bin Laden was also once seen as a “hero.”

Penn Law professor Amy Wax tells Tucker Carlson that "Blacks" and other "non-western" groups harbor "resentment, shame, and envy" against western people for their "outsized achievements and contributions." pic.twitter.com/jpQmOU554C
In 2021, Wax wrote that "the United States is better off with fewer Asians," claiming Asians are ungrateful for the advantages of living in the US and vote disproportionately for the "pernicious" Democratic Party, which she called "mystifying" because the Democratic Party "demands equal outcomes despite clear . . . group differences" and "valorizes blacks." She favorably cited Enoch Powell while calling for stricter race-based immigration restrictions against Asians.[35][36]
Penn Law School's dean, Theodore Ruger, called Wax's statements about Asians "racist", "white supremacist", and "diametrically opposed to the policies and ethos of this institution".[37]Glenn Loury, the Brown professor who had hosted the interview, called her comments "outrageous" and said, "What she said about the Asians could have been said, and was said, about the Jews not so long ago. Today we call that antisemitism."[36] As of January 5, nearly 9,000 law students had signed a petition to have Wax suspended.[38] The statements drew condemnation from both local Pennsylvania papers and national press.[37][39]

Comparing the Taliban to Ukrainians. Just bizarre.
It’s this type of crazy talk that has gone unchecked over the last decade or so, that is creating so much conflict around the globe. We’re living in the twilight zone.
Republicans and the cpac in Hungary this month, so American conservatives who are supposedly deeply committed to the ideals of personal liberty, limited government, free markets, human dignity, and the like will be joining forces behind one of the most authoritarian and antisemitic heads of state in the world. If this doesn’t alert you to where the whole conservative movement is headed, then I don’t know what is.
Candidate for Michigan governor Ryan D. Kelley says those on the left want to “push this idea of democracy,” but that “in every instance” democracy ends up as communism. This rhetoric is how the right will justify their rule even as the minority voice in this country. pic.twitter.com/dvc2qbXJCJ

I wish these people would get their stories straight.
Marjorie Taylor Greene says that the shootings are "false flags" by liberals.
Marjorie Taylor Greene suggests that because “white Christian nationalists” didn’t shoot up pride parades in June, it somehow confirms that the July 4th shootings were false flags. pic.twitter.com/VTffNdGy3Z
