Rhode Island

We know nothing about the shoreline areas in RI. It seems to be a central location for our group of 6 adult friends. We do not need a night life. An area quiet and pretty along a beach would be nice (not Block Island). Our thoughts are to rent a house, do some cooking and relax. Hopefully late August early September. We would like to find an ABNB or the like. Anyone have knowledge of that coast that can point us to the right area?

The area around Newport is fun.

I second Newport.

If you don't need nightlife and want a nice beach, Newport is not the right place.
Newport is awesome if you want restaurants, night life, attractions, etc.  However, the beaches are average and the town is crowded in August/September.

If you want nice quiet beaches check out Watch Hill/Westerly area.

 Misquamicut comes to mind.

I really like Bristol. It's quieter than Newport, but has restaurants and is on the water. My sister rented in Portsmouth a couple of years ago. The house was beautiful, but there wasn't much in the area. We tended to drive a half hour to go out in Newport. Agreed on the beaches in Newport. We went up for a few years. We love Newport, but the parking for the beach can be tough and they get really crowded. There's also an overabundance of seaweed certain days.
