Brendan Byrne State Forest (Pine Barrens)

The white birds are Tundra Swans on a winter's visit to N.J.

The forest includes abandoned cranberry bogs so we were hiking along the edge of several bogs.

The second photo is of a beaver lodge at the edge of one of the bogs.

The red berry is a cranberry. They are still growing in the bogs and available for eating.... sweet.

Last photo is of surface water collected after a rain. The water is BLACK. This is because of tannic acid that is prevalent in the barrens. Looking at the water, it was black. Photograph picked up the reflection of the sky but a bit of the black water is still observable in the photo.

I picked up two Teaberries to show my grandkids. If I remember, I will take a photo of them tomorrow to post. Teaberry is also known as American Wintergreen.

Nice.

Saw a fox running across a frozen pond in the Reservation today.  Was driving and could not get pic unfortunately.

Took these photos one year ago to the day at Reynisfjara beach in Iceland. Believe it or not these are color photos. 

Iceland is other worldly.  Very worth the trip, and pretty close too.

 it was a bucket list trip. Always wanted to see the Northern Lights and we got a brief window to see it. 

Goat Hill, overlooking New Hope-Lambertville. Lambertville on the right of the bridge, New Hope on the left. 3/2/21

The horizons are off kilter because the screen was washed out by sunlight and I could not see if the frame was level.

Historical signage says that Goat Hill was used as observation point by Generals Washington and Cornwallis.

March 7 photos, including New Jersey’s first covered bridge in Delaware Township and ... crocuses 

oh, and about 3.000 Snow Geese in a field on Pottstown Road in Pottstown.

 I don't generally believe in bucket lists but Iceland is definitely on mine.

Roughly 10,000 snow Geese at Merrell Creek Reservoir.

Just reviewed this thread.  Your photo above (winter crocuses) actually shows winter aconite.  Easy to grow (plant it, and then do nothing), and also extremely poisonous.

FJJ, I know this thread is about pix that posters (mainly you) take on their travels in beautiful light and unexpected corners of forgotten neighbourhoods. I thought you might forgive an intrusion of an article on an art festival of sand sculptures in an old goldmining town in Western Australia. 
The sculptures are stunning, the setting is breathtaking and the stories are both heart-breaking and heart-warming.
